My truck has been at the final ramp, at a rail yard in Dixiana, for over 5 weeks. I haven’t been able to get any response from Ford or my dealer on why this has happened.

I know I probably shouldn’t have done this, but I took it upon myself to call the automotive transport company that will most likely be transporting my truck to the dealership, and may have misrepresented myself.

I gave the lady my VIN, and she told me it’s on a “stop-ship” and they can’t schedule a convoy until it’s off. But what was weird, was after some poking around with questions, she told me that she said every Maverick that is at that rail yard, is also on a stop-ship.

It could be nothing, but I thought it was very strange that all the Mavericks at that rail yard are currently on a hold. Could that mean they were damaged in transport? The recent recall? Future recall? Or something else?
What exactly were you hoping to learn? Lol anywho. Its fun picturing a private investigator snooping for lost mavericks. So thanks for the read

A Toyota employee recently gave me some insight. He said Toyota sends teams of people to railyards to do quality checks and minor repairs. He said it's not common knowledge and they usually don't even tell the dealers. This guy called one of his contacts at Ford to find out if they have similar processes. The Ford guy said vehicles aren't being held at railyards for quality checks but Mavericks are likely waiting there for modules (i.e. chips). If Ford is like Toyota, they're not telling the dealers why the trucks are being held up, which would explain why dealers don't have answers about these delays.

i think the real answer is timing of when bronco sports and mavericks can be combined on carriers to be delivered. There is a parking lot full of both at the Wayne assembly plant waiting for carriers. If there is only so many drivers, so many hours in a day and can carry 6 cars at a time, you can see how it might take weeks to deliver.
I have a loaded class A license.. let's get this show on the road.

Dixiana SC?

That was the spot where I got of the rail and on the truck too. Mine was there like 4 days, and was delivered to the dealer(Jim Hudson ford Lexington SC) Thursday last week.

There has to be more to the story…

Sorry, that is so frustrating. I hope soon you will see it does exist!

Oh wow! Thanks for letting me know. My dealer is very close to yours, in Kernersville.

I see yours is an eco-boost, and mine is a hybrid, so that may be the indicator that it is indeed a hybrid hold up. :( Not sure why they wouldn’t send them to the dealer if it’s just the engine recall issue though.. especially since it seems like it’s not a convoy-related issue if they’re sending them up to Lexington.

Glad you got yours at least! Congrats

Aaarrrggghhh this seems like episode 184 of "as my planet rotates" and now I'm looking forward to season 2. 😬 Maybe new options, packages, colors....ANYTHING.... In the days past it we could watch skits on sat night. Hey maybe Tim could make a video of a maverick being delivered to his dealership and we could watch episodes of that process. Maybe I will utube my Aug 2nd at my dealership! 😂

About 30 minutes after posting this my salesman called and said he "believes" my hybrid's delay at the railyard is due to the engine fire recall. It sounded like he was just making an educated guess based on the timing of the recall. Maybe he's right and maybe not, but I appreciate him staying in contact and trying to give me a reason. 🙂

My Maverick has been built (5/30), shipped and arrived at the Petersburg Railyard in VA on 7/1. Was supposed to arrive at dealer between 7/7-7/13 and I was told over the weekend by the dealership that it is "On hold" at the railyard and new ETA is between 7/31-8/6. No reason given. I've tracked it to the railyard on United Road and it says it is "on hold" but no reasons given. I see other car loads going to the dealership but no Mavericks are on the ship list after last week. I was wondering if it was due to the recall but they said they would fix the issue when it arrived at the dealership as part of the PDI, so not sure what the hold up is.

To me my GUESS would not be a recall they have a solution for. Just have the dealer do the recall as part of the normal prep each vehicle gets. . So maybe they found an issue at the plant they have yet a solution for? Again just guessing.

Makes no sense to me. Why hold these Mavericks at the rail yard?? Why not expedite them to the dealerships so they can be repaired and then delivered to the customers. I doubt there going to send them back to the factory for updates. My ordered Maverick is supposed to be built Aug 15th. Hopefully some of these problems will be fixed on these later built Mavericks before they leave the factory??

Wonder how many trucks will get critters in them from sitting months in a rail yard?
