The first time I washed my truck with the Rev factory installed tonneau cover the bed filled up with water. I made a post and someone from Ford on this site asked me for my Vin number, name, etc. They started a case and said someone would contact me. They also said take the truck back to the dealer.

As I expected, no one called me from Ford. I also knew that if I took it back to Ford, some mechanic would start adjusting the rails, etc, and my tonneau cover would still leak. They probably would not of have any parts from Rev to fix the cover.

I decided I would try a fix that could easily be removed and would not alter the cover in any way. I did not touch anything on the cover. All I did was add some TruX Seal that I bought on Amazon for about $25.00.

I added two small pieces on both sides of the tonneau cover by the cab. I added one long piece along the tailgate. This took about 20 minutes. I closed the tailgate, and today I decided to do a water test. I sprayed the back of the bed for about 5 minutes. I dried off the cover and then rolled the to near cover back. There were 3 drops of water in the bed. The bed was dry. I was extremely pleased with this fix.

Ford needs to contact Rev and work with them on a recall of all rollup tops. The seal closest to the cab should be longer and thicker. The seal by the tailgate needs to be much thicker. This is where lots of water is getting in.

This is a very simple fix.

If you look at my photos you can see where I placed the pieces of weather seal by the cab. It could look nicer but it worked. In another photo you can see where I placed the seal along the tail gate. When closed there is an extremely tight seal between the tailgate and tonneau cover. Rev could easily do a fix with one thicker longer seal attached to the tonneau cover. There wouldn’t need to be a seal on the tailgate

This is a very nice cover. Very sturdy and looks good on the truck.

Mine has a quarter inch gap between the gate and the cover even though there is clearly an attempt to seal the gap from the cover. I agree with you. this gap is letting a lot of water in. Other’s thoughts?

I am late reading this but I had questions on this very topic!!! At the tailgate end there is a huge gap and water routinely gets in there. It's like they just left that gap and didnt even try to fix it. Maybe a little more flap at the end to end could have been a solution. I hope someone makes a mod of some kind to prevent the water getting in.

Curious how the corners at the tailgate look? I did the strip across the top like you did (but had to put it a bit lower because it doesn't close well with the cover closed.

The edges are a bit open tho but I guess that's standard?

My edges are open probably like yours. I still get some water in the bed, but not as much as when I first got the cover.

Is the seal staying on? That is, how is the seal’s glue holding up?
