A mustang is just a tad more aerodynamic than a pickup truck. This entire thread is a very very basic course in physics. Sure, be disappointed that the Maverick doesn't magically lower and change shape as speed increases, but I'm not sure how anybody would be surprised by this.
Maybe Ford will release a Transformers version Maverick to help with that ;)

Was it mainly a uphill drive? That's the only thing that makes sense. Also tailgating and quick acceleration hurt your mileage.

Tripped 3000 miles on our XL hybrid this morning. Overall getting 43.8 MPG. We have done all types of driving including a 500 mile roundtrip interstate trip hauling myself, eif and about 600 pounds of tools and construction supplies. On that trip se averaged 39.5 MPG each way. The truck was delivered 24 March. We have had absolutely no issues. Wish we had ordered 2.

I have 2200 miles on my Mav. Sometimes just local, 70% of mileage came from highway at 70-80 mph. Right now an average is 38.1 MPG

After getting 45 and 41 mpg in city driving, a recent trip to corpus cristi at 75 mph yielded 29 mpg.

I expected at least 35. Anyone else see something similar?
I have the XLT, FX4 and Tow package with 2.0L Turbo Eco-Boost and I am getting 37-39 MPG's on the HWY and close to 600 MPT. I love my Maverick. My favorite all time vehicle. Even better than the more expensive ones I've owned.

Anything over 70mph causes cars to fight the atmosphere and largely depends on aerodynamics. If it was falling from the sky it would reach terminal velocity at around 70mph, you'd have to put in more work to make it go faster.

I suspect that Mavericks aren't very aerodynamic compared to many hybrids that get a smaller city/highway difference.

So the faster you go, the worse the mileage - more than with a sleek car. You could try 65 mph and see what it does... or even 55, I hope to use mine on slower back roads - if it ever arrives!!!

Based on my experience with a previous hybrid, I would think the battery relies on regenerative braking and engine idling to charge the battery and then discharge it when accelerating. If you are driving a constant speed, the gas engine is using its power for the wheels so no energy would be going to the battery to power the electric motor so 29 mpg when using mostly the gas engine is pretty decent.

At steady highway speeds on level ground the hybrid part of the vehicle has little or no effect. Possibly a reduction of efficiency due to the added weight for the batteries and electric motor.

Low tire pressure + low temperatures + HVAC use destroy Hybrid MPGs

I would be happy with close to 100 miles per gallon also

Great MPG on our first (just over) 1/2 tank

this includes interstate, lots of in-town, plus highway, and roughly 60mi towing an (empty) car-hauling trailer 55mph, and hauling around some furniture.

Sounds about right. I can't get past my 39.9 average because half my 40 mile daily commute is expressway.
