Yeah....two different trucks..... the sport trac was an exploder.....and a damn fine truck with an optional V8
I just sold my 2002 Zinc Yellow 179,000 miles. 6 cylinder that drank like a V8....

When I needed a new truck i hemmed and hawed about the Sport Trac before ordering my Mav. The 16/21 mpg hurts but they are nice little trucks.
Interesting to cross-shop a 12+ year old vehicle and a brand new one. How much are sport tracs going for these days?

I don't believe FORD is making the Sport Track any more... or the Fusion, or the Taurus, or the Pinto, or the Galaxy, or the Fairlane, or the Crown Victoria, or the Fiesta, or believe it or not, the Edsel.

That was my point. The poster said he/she was deciding between buying a Maverick, which is obviously a brand new vehicle, and a Sport Trac, which would have to be at least 12 years old at this point as they stopped making them in 2010. Seemed a little odd to be cross-shopping such an old vehicle with a brand new one. I was asking about prices for used sport tracs in this market

my son has one with over 360K miles now with a ford rebuild engine. when we looked the sport trac was a pretty expensive truck - over $10K for any good example with average mileage. Great truck but horrible gas mileage. rust issues like most fords. But bed is a thick plastic bed/box - no liner or spray in required! very similar 'flex bed' design so nothing new there. for me, it was the size/functionallity combined with gas mileage. plus looked pretty good

For a low millage Sport Trac you are looking at mid 20s. He is a higher millage one I just found on a search.

Before the jump in prices you could get it for under 10k.

Honestly the Maverick did a nice job replacing the Sport Trac.

Yeah I had a 2004 Sport Trac. Actually liked it a lot, but was awestruck by the Mustang redesign, and eventually sold it and got an 2006 Mustang GT, which I had for 13 years.

I had my 2005 for 15 years. Solid truck, except for the 16 mpg.
I sold it with 165,000 miles on it for $5400 when I got my Maverick. Could have gotten more, it sold in under 24 hours.

Had an 02 Sportrac 4x4 for 15 years of mis-use. Traded in on my 2016 F150 when the stupid shyster transmission shop kept screwing up their "high quality" rebuilds. I should have purchased a New transmission.

16/21mpg...wow I wish
I bought a used sport trec in the fall of 2017 for $4300 cash it had 120k for milage v6 4wheel drive... I still have it trying to not have to put any money in it.. So far just the usual tires, roters, battery, alternator

I thought it might be better with gas.. Man was I wrong this thing is horrible...
I get 11 to 12 is the city and about 15 hwy.. On avarge I only get 250miles to a tank.. This thing is a complete gas hog... I have a EB XLT lux with FX4 in alto blue I'm waiting on that's unscheduled

I feel your pain, 250 miles on full tank on my ‘02; never put more than that cause I didn’t trust the gas gauge. But I honestly loved that gas guzzler. I put a lot of money into it before I sold it. But the young lady loved it, and I felt good selling her a safe good running truck…. I bought it used and the air conditioner never worked and everyone I brought it to, for repair just smiled and told me it’s cheaper to buy a new truck.

I was in the parking lot of Home Depot the other day, and I noticed something odd; the so-called new Ford Maverick, is a copy of an older model, maybe not as popular, and definitely not as fuel efficient! Still, I'm really enjoying my new truck! One is a 2000-2010 Explorer Sport Trac, and the other is my Maverick.

Ones with reasonable mileage are about $5-6k. They aren't fancy but you can find good ones. High mileage or rust buckets are going for $3k ish.

When I was shopping for trucks i had an 03 Ranger i loved but needed something with a back seat for the kiddo and reliable enough to pick him up from daycare in the winter. I was shopping for $5-7k trucks or $14-20k newer F150/Ranger styles.

Spending a lot on a vehicle when I drive ~3k miles a year was a hard decision. Safety, simplicity and not having to worry about it won out. Prior to when my Mav arrives I've never owned a vehicle newer than 12 years old (other than my wife's Subaru)
