New truck owner here...

Do I need to park my truck pointing uphill? So that the nose is higher than the tail gate?

I'm thinking of water draining out of the tail gate. Does it not matter?

I am not sure if you are being serious or funny. If funny, I will say, did it finally start raining In Texas? ( i grew up in TX and remember the summers well)
if serious, get a cover or such, bedliners can make a portion of the bed watertight and if something is there, it will sit in water. Back in ye olden days, it was never an issue because of drain holes or wood beds etc. But expect some pooling when it rains, not enough to worry about parking direction though.

also, texas is mostly flat God only had so many curves and in texas the went elsewhere

there you have it, funny, serious and dirty old man responses pick whichever one suits you best

The tailgate isn’t sealed to the bed when it’s closed, so at most you’ll only have a few inches of water in the bed which will drain out as soon as you start driving. No need to park uphill.

Nah, I was being quite serious after noticing that everyone on my street parks their trucks uphill. I like to back my car in and park downhill and, yesterday being particularly wet, it got me thinking. I know it wouldn't ruin things, but if I park downhill, would I end up with 2 feet of water in the bed?

I will get a tonneau, eventually.

Thanks for your replies!

Not sure about the Mav but my 2015 Colorado had drain holes in the front of the bed and not sure about my 20 Ranger since I bought a tonneau the day after purchase.

There's drainholes at the front of the bed on the Maverick as well.
That's great. Now I just gotta make sure they don't spray over it.

I've owned trucks my whole life. Never once considered the water accumulation in the bed when I park. It'll run out when you drive away. Lol

Ooo.... That's all awesome idea! But I think that's gonna be over the 1500lbs load limit.

If it rains enough to dump 2 feet of water in your bed, I suspect that your truck will have already been swept away by the flood.

I'd imagine that largely depends on the cover you get and that information works be provided by the cover manufacturer.

All joking aside we used to use pond liners to waterproof our truck beds and make “Jacuzzi’s”.

the fact that we survived the 80’s astounds many today
