I see the switch as gaining AWD rather than losing mpg, and I think an AWD truck will resell better when the time comes.

The $ savings from hybrid mpg is peanuts. My current car gets 19mpg, mostly highway driving. I fill up twice a month. So best case scenario with the hybrid, I save one gas tank a month? BEST case? That's $50. Meh.
Tco on the hybrid is predicted to be substantially lower, the actual gas is a part of depreciation and maintenance, but not all of it.

If you are leasing, just go with 2.0 if it gets there quicker; if buying to keep 7+ years, go with hybrid (if you can live without awd).
The 2.5 is multi port injection rather than DI, which is a big plus in my book. Direct Injection leads to carbon buildup and issues if not properly maintained. Our Honda with DI gave us issues (thankfully under warranty before we traded it). Toyota does multi port injection to avoid issues and have long term reliability.
For this alone, I think the 2.5 hybrid will be a good engine for the long term.

Really, what the topic says. I have a Lariat Lux hybrid ordered, but I'm considering changing it to a Lariat 2.0 AWD Lux because waiting until January-February for it to be built, well, sucks.

Any thoughts - is Ford still not scheduling any Lariat hybrids for building?
The longer you wait, most likely the cheaper the vehicles will get, and the more information we'll have from Consumer Reports and forum members and more practice the new crew building the cars will have.

Only you can know if you can wait or not, but if your current vehicle isn't blowing smoke leaving you stranded, I'd take a chill pill and wait to get what I want.

But if we all cared that much about costs, we'd still be running around in beater honda civics and the like.
We can argue dollar amounts all day and never agree. But you do make a very good point - if it was only about cost we'd all be driving 10-yr old civics & corollas, not waiting for out 2022 Mavericks to get built

Did I miss some news about hybrid scheduling? Is it really pushed back to 2022?

My question is whether you need a new vehicle, or want a new vehicle.

Me personally, if my car dies, before I take delivery of my hybrid Maverick, there is a pretty good chance I'll buy an XLT Lux AWD off of a lot somewhere. There is the possibility of my partner and I limping buy on her CHR until my Hybrid gets here, but we'll have to see.

I would rather have the hybrid, though. Most of my driving is city driving, and I'd rather get the higher city mpg.

I ordered a hybrid XLT and am staying the course. I don't need towing nor AWD...

Cost of ownership....Cost of ownership...cost of ownership.

You didn't miss any news - they're still trying to figure out how to build CVT transmissions in volume and in the meantime are mostly building trucks with 2.0 engines.

Dealers are telling people who ordered hybrids to expect them built in November or later. Given Ford's struggles trying to build the Bronco, it's unlikely to be sooner...

Why do you think Ford is struggling to build the Bronco? The part in question is from a non Ford company : Webasto

According to the latest bulletin
"until further notice, stock hybrid orders will not be selected for scheduling."

Who knows how long further notice will be
