Would you trust moving electronics in the rain under your tonneau cover?

Let's say you're moving and you have some boxed electronics in your truck bed. Maybe a speaker in a box, maybe a computer monitor. You're driving a long distance which might involve rain. Do you think your tonneau cover is up to the task of keeping your gear dry?

There are ways to keep those items dry even without a cover.

I have noticed some drops on my inside fenders after a rain. That said, big black garbage bags will seal if they are large enough to gather the ends and band them. If not, the back seat has worked well for rain.

I'm ok with my soft tri-fold Gator not being water tight. It was less than 300 and I like that I can take it off easily and quickly.

Well, if the box fits under the tonneau cover, then yes, but if not, then definitely would cover it with a tarp, tied down securely.

Yeah, maybe I need a tarp. All I have right now are moving blankets. Thanks.

You have a truck. Yes you need to own a tarp. Most covers are questionable. I would say put a couple boards down(anything to get the box directly off the bed) and tarp it anyways. No big deal. Just security unless the electronics are going to the thrift store.

.... my wife says she is always right, I learned not to argue with her.
Being married 46 years I’ve learned that arguing with my wife is like trying to teach a pig to dance.

The pig has absolute no interest in learning to dance, and the more you try the more you just pi$$ it off...

I’ve never understood you tonneau cover people in general, and that was assuming that they were at least water tight. If most aren’t, well, they’re truly useless. *sigh*

Not useless. Primarily used for security and keeping your stuff in the bed at highway speeds. Not to mention you can't see if anything is in the bed. The cab you can see into.

Right. It’s an optional bigger car trunk that’s not weatherproof and not quite as secure. Got it.

Put the wife in the truck bed and the electronics in the vehicle, secured with seat belts.

The one on my truck from Ford. No. It leaks. I thought for $1200.00 it would be more water tight.
Maybe you should have the dealer check the install. My FORD Factory tonneau seems to work great, I get a little water in from tailgate at carwash but that's about it!
