Yes I know they will hurt MPGs, I know most of us drive 99% on pavement, but I like AT tires. I'm talking very mild AT tires in stock or close to stock size. From my tirerack.com research looks like plenty available in stock size. All around 30lbs, so 6lbs heavier per corner. My thought would be maybe to do a lighter set of wheels with AT tires and try to land somewhere near stock specs. I know rolling resistance... but I bet you could get very close to the all season MPGs with the right combo.

Seems like a few people have done this experiment, curious as to what their MPGs are looking like and if they have any regrets.

Thoughts?
There was a guy in earlier post who found a tire and wheel package r-18 A/T snow rated tires. He said he dropped a pound each tire and wheel!!

He's running the Nokian Outpost APT. I'm a big fan of Nokian tires but the guy I commute with runs them on his Outback and they are LOUD. Probably why the guy you're talking about is looking to sell his wheel tire package with them. FWIW I run K02s on my F150 and the Outpost APT on the Subaru makes them sound like quiet all season tires.

IMO the Outpost ATPs aren’t loud, I’m just open to making changes if others are interested in them. They’re certainly not priced to sell.
The tires themselves are on the heavy side, but when matched with the wheels I was able to net a 1lb loss.

I weighed the ones I bought and came in close to 29lbs. Set of four ran $478 plus tax. Since I haven't run them yet I cannot speak to the noise level but their design doesn't lend itself to the noise level I have on the Wildpeak ATW's I have on my Jeep. simply because of the tread. Based upon my new Bronco Sport wheel and tire the weight overall is the same. as the garbage Continentals and steelies weight. Rolling resistance is supposed to be low but they are Three Peak rated so they must have some grab.

we've discussed the noise and his thought is the full depth sipes on the tires that other AT type tires don't really have, he said they're as noisy as winter tires he has run with many more sipes

My 235/60/18s are 28.7lbs but my wheels are only 19.1lbs. The tires add about 3-4lbs over the OE Continentals. These and the WRG4s are rated LRR and 3 peak and are recommended tires by Nokian for EV SUVs and trucks.
My last set of WRGs wore very well, still had 10/32 after 2 years, and I expect to these are will do just as good.

I have 245/70 17 falken rubitrek(basically wildpeaks at3). Wheels are 15lb and tires about 40lbs. Using spacer adapters which are about 2 lbs each. So about 57/58 lbs a side. After 2 tanks now averaging about 37/38 mpg. Only about half the time on eco. So if I drove conservative the whole tank I could beat that pretty easy.

I’ve already purchased Michelin CrossClimate2 for similar reasons. I had the Continentals that come on the Maverick hybrid on my last car and didn’t like them. I will use dedicated winter tires on separate rims, but sometimes winter arrives before I’m able to make the switch. The CrossClimate2s seemed to me to have a great combination of ride, handling, quiet and wet/snow traction. Intensive comparison review on Tire Rack page with similar tires.

Did you notice much of a change in MPG with the swap? I've been eyeing the exact same tires for wet/snow performance.

I bought them ahead of the Maverick's arrival. Took delivery three days ago so I haven't swapped them out yet. Will follow up when I have some miles on them.

My questions are how are they doing the snow and did you lose any mpg switching to this tire wheel combo?
… in other news I just picked up bronco the other day it’s a base so I’m wondering what we are tire package to put on there??

Unfortunately I didn’t get an opportunity to test them out in the snow.
I only had 400miles on the Maverick when I swapped them so I didn’t have a hand calculated figure to compare it to. The onboard increased from 36 to 37mpg for the next couple hundred miles but that’s really a valid sample size or measure of efficiency.
Fwiw theyre rated as low rolling resistance tires.
