A bit stressed. Was in the truck
yesterday and *I think* I may have engaged the anti-theft and/or blew a fuse. Was playing with the door locks while also had the key in the ingnition - the truck hasn't started since yesterday.

It's in a courtyard area where a flatbed can't reach - just had a tow tech out who said both batteries are running full ((or completely dead - I have a lot of questions about why he didn't know)) and he suggested I just take out the batteries and take them to somewhere to be charged.

Id prefer to just have it towed to the dealer, but nobody in Southern California can seem to answer me - how do I put this into neutral so I can try to push it into my driveway???

~~ a first time new car owner.

Thank you in advance.

I don't have an answer for you, unfortunately, but I will say that there's only ONE battery in the hybrid that is removable, and that's the one under the rear seat. The high-voltage hybrid battery is not customer serviceable or removable. I have seen a few other reports on the forums about some possible 12v battery issues or bad harness connections on the batteries. I'm sure others will chime in soon with more info.

Thank you - I may have located the parking cable release under the center console ((next to where the wireless charging dock may be)) but lord knows my hands don't fit there. Trying to see if my wife can...and even then, not even sure it's the location.

Call your dealer, or Ford roadside assistance.

Yep - did both. Roadside assist sent out the tech to check the battery, I've called a few dealers in the area - mine just responded and said there is no way to pop the maverick into neutral and suggested I get wheel dollies.

What a mess.

Making suggestions is NOT roadside assistance.
Give him some grief. The whole MTC is watching!

Hi there! Can you send us a PM with your VIN and Ford dealership information? I’d be happy to look into this Maverick concern on my end.

Thank you for reaching out - I'm closing this thread.

It seems that when I checked the fuse box to see if the fuse had in fact blown, I ((presume)) I dislodged a cable that wasn't completely secure.

The cable seems to have been an important one - because once I got back under and secured it, everything was working again.

I'll take my shame and keep enjoying my truck now. Sigh. What a day.

Thank you all for your responses.

That sucks for sure. I have an MR2 Spyder SMT transmission that blew a fuse due to rodents in one of those portable garages. Was stuck in gear. The guy insisted there was a cable had me open the front hood (the engine trans is in the back). The guy ended up dragging it up on the flatbed.
I would call Ford there must be a way to get it into neutral. All this drive by wire stuff has disadvantages.

Two concerns… there’s a cable that can be dislodged by checking a fuse? And nobody can figure out how to tow a hybrid including the dealer? Both of these issues need to be checked into by Ford.

My only thought is that when attempting to replace the cover for the fuse box ((under the passenger side panel)), perhaps one of the clips caught the wire?

My mental checklist wasnt adding up of when I "lost" power, so I went back to check again and saw the 'ajar' cable.

On one hand - absolutely tickled I don't have to go to the dealership, and I'm only out time and stress.

On the other - it really is a little strange that nobody knew how to move the truck.

FMC...
Very good of you to reply and offer to help! Good to see that level of support here.
PLEASE do let usHybrid owners know if there's a way to put the vehicle in a "neutral" in case if must be moved as was almost the use case here.

AGAIN, many thanks for monitoring this site and responding!
Give's us FAITH in the brand!

Is 'flat towing' covered in the manual? I would think if it can be flat towed, it can be put into neutral.

Update:
This is from the Maverick hybrid owner's manual.
