I love it. The combination of moonroof and power sliding rear window means that in spring/fall I can have the perfect amount of air flow in the truck without the A/C on. I had this combo in my Ridgeline and it's been just as effective in the Maverick.
Going back and forth on the rear sliding window, but it seems to make good sense with the moonroof.

I have always liked having a sun/moon roof. I had a 70's German Opel with a sunroof that used a small hand crank to open.... Miss that car.. lol. My Maverick has a moon roof. To vent it kicks up the back of it. To open all the way, it drops inside the roof and a windscreen pops up in front of it.

Wow - thanks for the photos - the one on my wife's Expedition works in a similar way, so that is exactly what I'm looking for. Definitely including the moonroof on my XLT when I order it.

What Darnon said.

The glass, tracks it runs on, motor that moves it, shade that covers it, they all detract from your overall payload.

The lowest I've seen so far is just over 1200lbs, and that was a fully loaded 2.0 AWD Lariat. 1200lbs is still plenty for most people
I hadn't thought about it that way; makes sense. I am sure the 1200-lb or so will be more than enough for me. I appreciate the explanation!

I had one, then removed it after sitting and seeing the difference in head room. I had moon roofs before and over time the drain hoses can plug, resulting the draining into the car. Plus, I decided that a trifold bed cover was a good swap in cost. Just the thought process of someone who ordered and then removed the option

Thanks - I've seen a couple of comments on the headroom issue. I might have to try to find one to look at with a moonroof before I place an order. I have sat in three or four, but none had a moonroof. Thanks for the reply!

Of all the cars I've owned... Including my beloved Opel... I have never had one leak. I have heard stories but never had an issue myself. I've never had an issue with the moon roof taking up too much headroom... But then I'm 5'7... Lol

Is there any official...chart or something, anything, that lets you know how much weight you can load up in the bed depending on what options you chose for the vehicle?
I don't have mine yet but I believe I read that it's on the driver's door post decal.

Many years ago, I had an Oldsmobile Trofeo with a moonroof, and my wife now has the 2018 Expedition. Those are the only two I've had personal experience with, and neither leaked. I have heard horror stories, but have not experienced them. I've sat in three or four Mavericks, though none with a moonroof. I am curious about the headroom, but I am only 5'9" so, like you, I don't see it being a major concern for me.

I love mine. It slides into the roof with a one-touch button. It also tilts upward. Definitely gives it a badass look to my maverick. I do not have the back sliding window because I don't like the look.

I enjoy reviewing all the different Maverick Truck Club articles and reviews! I am anxiously awaiting the MY2023 opening to get a Maverick Hybrid on order.

My question is: has anyone ordered the power moonroof option, and what are your thoughts? I don't recall seeing any threads on this site discussing the option. I seem to remember reading in one thread that the power moonroof was one of the options that could create a delay in a getting a build date.

My wife has a 2018 Expedition Limited and it has the full glass roof where the forward portion slides back. While I haven't seen any posts on the Maverick option, I am sure it is the front seating area only, which is great, I don't think I'll be riding in the back anyway :)

The main question I'd have is does it slide back into the roof, or does it tilt up and slide back externally, over the top of the roof. The option description is a little bit vague if you ask me, and I've yet to see a Maverick with the option. Also, from the description and the rendering on the website, it appears to have the shade screen as well, would like to confirm that.

Thanks in advance ... can't wait to get a Maverick on order and get it delivered!
Our Mav came to us via a dealer decision to sell one of their showroom "showoffs", so I had no choice in the matter. I am quite happy having it in that it adds a bit of 'coolness' - both in looks and air flow in the cabin when A/C is too much or unnecessary. It can be retracted all the way back or just have the rear raised up a bit. Had I had to built my Mav, I probably would have been ok with NOT having one.

Ok everyone, let's cut the "crap" here and talk about the real benefits of the sunroof for this fine person. FLATULENCE! The aerodynamics of the back window open with the sunroof cracked sucks out a fart faster than you can spell F A R T 2x fast. If that doesn't make it worth it, nothing will.

P. S. Yes, I'm speaking with experience. I have a little over 1000mi in my maverick and I've ripped some humdingers in there 😁

I have the sun roof on my Lariat, it does have a shade screen, and tilts to open. Nice feature.

Great - thanks! I am glad to know you didn't get the rear slider but still love the moonroof. I am likely going to opt for the XLT, and the rear slider being manual does me virtually no good. I also don't like the look ... it seems really small and frankly, looks like an afterthought. Thanks for the reply!
