Girl Truck?

I'm getting one because parking my F350 Harley Davidson edition is no fun. I don't think vehicles are for girls or guys but it seems guys are surprised it's my F350 when I have work done on it.

63-year-old woman here, so probably not fitting the "girl" label. Owned trucks for years (I have horses and goats). Ordered a Mav right away, because I've long regretted selling my old Ranger compact truck.

I see the design as sort of neutral, with only the smaller size potentially reading "feminine" as compared to today's big grill monster "manly" trucks. The Maverick will be my main driver for me and the dogs, replacing a Honda CR-V, reserving/preserving my late father's Chevy stepside for the larger hay/feed runs and related horse/goat tasks.

My barrel-racing niece can back a horse-trailer onto a dime with her F-250, and so can my carriage-driving cowgirl neighbor next-door!

I forgot about the Ranger. I debated getting one until I saw it in person and thought “the front end looks like something a girl would drive”.

I don’t “constitutional” carry, I concealed carry. It’s no one’s business if I am armed (especially given my multiple licenses) unless I have to use a firearm. At which point, something, again, has gone terribly wrong, and someone has started assuming room temperature.

some of the most hetro guys I know, and one of the best dads -I’m looking at you Phabulous Phil- are drag queens. They have 0 to prove when they are not working the scene, and no one that knows them would ever question it.

drive what you like why and how you want to drive it (within the law and reason preferably)

Maybe I showed up in the wrong thread, we went from whether the Mav was a girl truck to 2A and drag queens....damn, I love the Internet.

As for the OP, I dunno about a "girl truck" but I have been referring to it as "the truck that actually fits in parking spots". Far less controversial and......true!

Sooo...the whole idea of identifying gender with vehicle type is pretty gosh darn silly. Like what you like, individuals identify practicality in different ways. It seems the general through line with cars that get branded with being girly is "shrunken". Jeep Renegades, Bronco Sports, Tacoma, smaller versions of more established "manly" brands.

With the Maverick, I don't see much to make it look "girly" anyways. I think it's exterior design is pretty plain (in a good way!). It's got some braun, but it doesn't look like a Metallica song transformed into a truck like a Raptor does. In the face of the overly aggressive design of modern trucks, I think that, combined with its size, an annoying segment of "The Truck Community" is gonna look at the Maverick as a chick's car. It being an FWD hybrid probably won't help with that either. And all of that is really dumb. Furthermore nothing in the XLT interior makes me think "this was designed for women in mind" with its bright orange accents.

Also on a side note the Ford Probe was a fantastic car, and if they had rebadged the modern 4cyl ecoboost Mustang as the Probe people would love it.

My wife when asked what the Maverick looks like describes it as a "girl truck." I'm just curious how many women we have here.

We have two ordered. One is for my daughter. We are happy to get a break for our F-150's mileage wise.

Surprised it took this long for this thread to pop up.
I had joked that at 60, with declining testosterone, I needed a truck boost.

But that the little Mav wasn't going to do it. Fact is that people who drive trucks as a statement of masculinity (rather than as a practical choice) are likely to ridicule Mavs, especially FWD Hybrids.

But it's a fine looking and supremely practical vehicle (for me) and I don't really give a shit what people think.

I see way more dudes driving Miata’s than women, and I remember it was speculated to be a woman’s car. That being said, the Santa Cruz does look like a woman’s or Hipster car.

Are we allowed to ask that anymore? I mean we are going to have to switch to a non Latin alphabet soon to keep up with the pronouns.
