Took delivery of my XLT Maverick yesterday and I'm not sure if the pre-collision feature it's working.
It never alerted me or did a break when approaching the vehicle in from of me and the diagram below always stays the same (gray and with nothing populated).
Do I have a problem or is it working differently?

It might not work if you are braking already. The manual says it is active in speeds over 5km/h.

It's a collision prevention system. If you're paying attention and driving the truck, it is not supposed to "work". It will alert you and then apply brakes if you do nothing.

It is not recommended that you attempt this, especially involving other cars. If you just have to see it in action, try setting up boxes and covering some with a reflective material (such as aluminum foil). Drive at the boxes and do not brake.

You don't want this system to be hyperactive. That would just annoy people and they would turn it off, and the benefits would be negated. In the event the system is actually not working, you will get a warning/notification that the system is unavailable in the dash.

@MLowe05 yes, I get all of that.
What I'm probably asking is if the display in the pic is the same for all you guys.

That display should show you if the truck can see the lane lines. Nothing about the precollision system.

Not sure about that. The lines have a small icon that can be grey/green or red.

That screen is lane keeping, the lines changing color are warning you that you are drifting. Mine looks and works same as you show / describe.

Collision assist lights that entire center display red and gives a loud tone as well, regardless of what screen you have picked for display.

I have set mine off a couple of times, it is unnerving so you definitely do not want this going off except when absolutely necessary. Both times at 60 plus mph, closing on a vehicle in front while looking to change lanes - in both cases traffic ahead was suddenly coming to an abrupt slow down/stop and my foot was not on the brake. She did not like my closure rate.

I appreciated the warning, after the fact, but at the time it shocks ya....

If you really want to check it out @mloweprobably has the right idea, I know that works with other current vehicles.

This.

It's happened to me once in a stop and go traffic. A big warning in red appeared in that display but it happened so quick, I didn't really see what it said.

So basically if you catch the red screen out of the corner of your eye and get an alert tone then don’t look down to see what it says.. keep your head up, eyes on the road and deal with what you see first being braking and/or evasive maneuvers..

Mine looks exactly like yours, except it will show a vehicle graphic in the lane if there's a vehicle in front of me. If I'm too close, the pavement will turn to yellow as a caution display. I haven't seen it turn red as yet which is probably a good thing.

There are 2 systems, depending on equipment level. The base, camera based, system will only activate during an imminent collision. The copilot 360 with radar cruise control as well as the windshield camera will show a car ahead of the vehicle if it's picked up by the radar.

Don't take it as a bad thing if you don't see it working on your XLT, it just means you haven't put the system in a dangerous spot where it had to intervene.

Yes! this is what I saw on my screen when there was some dangerous driving ahead of me on the freeway. It was as fast as the two cars ahead of me dispersed.

Only one real way to test it….. drive 55 mph at a concrete wall and if you hit it, it’s not working!!!!
