Should but who knownsShould or will?
When my brother and dad did oil changes on their cars I got to keep their oil (put in gallon milk jugs) and I used that for burning :} Also my #3 cylinder plug always got fouled like maybe once a month so I first bought 4 plugs, pregapped them, and kept them in my car - I could pretty much swap out a fouled plug for a new one when I was stopped at a light. One of my Vegas had a/c - when you turned it on it was almost like someone had added an anchor to the rear bumper - there was a fairly gentle hill I had to get up near work and I had to turn the a/c off in order to get over it. It was actually a good looking car but the old rush to market did it in, I did learn how to Bondo on them though and even went as far to Maaco-ing one of them. What a blast! The problem with the fenders was they never installed any wheel splash guards over the tires. Everything from rain, snow, salt, mud, and rocks peppered the inside bare metal of the quarter panel. Rust from day one.
As for oil use, the engineers sprayed some new fancy coating on the cylinder walls that flecked off or scored from piston rings after 20k miles. I used diesel crank case oil to get me to 100 miles per quart.
Crazy times in the 70's.
That's another thing GM got wrong. They took a full size car (Malibu) AC unit and married it to a 4 cylinder. I had to turn the AC off to shift gears. The rpm's would drop like a rock in between shifts. When

no, none of what you said is happening. you clearly did not read the article, just the headline and went straight to freakout/righteous modeSo after a Ford dealership rips people off charging over MSRP, they’re going to sell you a vehicle that is technically not finished being built to function as originally intended? Nothing like having heated seats come July!
If Ford wants to be more like Tesla they have to take over all their manufacturing, not just assembly, control. I can understand this tactic if it can be executed on lower models like Mav but I would not pull this on F150/flagship vehicles.
I had an MGB like that, check the gas, fill the oil.I skipped the '74 Vega that my college buddy bought and got a Mustang II. Not sure who got the better deal!
My build date is March 28th, I sure hope my truck has its chip! Ford should be offering some type of compensation for the chip delay!Ford will sell partially built vehicles awaiting chips or related components that control non-safety critical features, it told dealers today.
Dealers will get the missing chips within 1 year to install on the already-sold vehicles, Ford said.
news story:
DETROIT – Amid an ongoing chip shortage, Ford is reportedly planning to ship and sell vehicles without certain non-critical chips as the automaker deals with a pile of unfinished vehicles.
Automotive News reports that Ford told dealerships on Saturday that they plan to sell vehicles without chips for some non-safety features, with plans to install them in the already-sold cars within a year.
Ford, like other automakers, has been dealing with a shortage of semiconductor microchips, and have a growing inventory of vehicles waiting for chips.
Ford isn’t the first to eliminate some chip-powered features. GM temporarily dropped heated seats in some models earlier this year.

My build date is the week of 4/11. I was wondering the same thing. My build date is March 28th, I sure hope my truck has its chip! Ford should be offering some type of compensation for the chip delay!
My first Maverick, a 1969 1/2 required a replacement parts bin in the trunk. Carried a spare starter, carburetor and wiring with me. One rainy night, replaced the starter in a grocery parking lot in 15 minutes. Did it so often I came to expect the starter going out. At least there was room to crawl under it without a jack. Carburetor was the same. Kept a spare in the car and a rebuild kit at home to rebuild the bad one. But…it did last 120,000 miles. Not bad for a ‘69. Sold it to a friend. Two friends in H.S. in the 80's bought matching Vegas. I don't recall either of them lasting until graduation.
In the early 90's I had come back from S. Korea and was stuck in Denver needing to get to Ft. Hood. I kept looking for a cheap car and couldn't find one that hadn't been wrecked. I was about to buy a bus ticket but eventually hit on a 79' Mercury Bobcat. One of those little roadside dealers. Sold it to me with TT&L for $197. I put a radio in it, changed the oil and drove it for the next two years. The guy I sold it to blew the engine. He must not have realized it needed a quart of oil every other tank of gas.
My Mav has been built, minus a chip(s) for two solid months. I guess we will see what happens.
You need to speak to the administrator- i just quoted an article and never mentioned Maverick. That was added by the administrator. There are 26 pages of Maverick buyers with ANXIETY over false information posted on day one of this thread. This thread should be stopped and the Maverick Picture with the False INFORMATION that Mavericks will be shipped without chips should be removed.
UNTIL INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY
Reposting I still have not seen anything that leads this article to the Maverick except the imagination of the administrator who modified my post.As the OP (although modified without consent by the administrator - whom BTW cannot or does not desire to clean up the potty mouth issue) there maybe 3 things to consider here.
1. There is no indication from Ford that the Maverick is included. Note that manufacturing of the Maverick has continued while other lines have been suspended for parts issues.
2. How will some bank or credit union feel about financing a partially built vehicle.
3. How will the insurance companies treat these trucks.
Remember that the VIN tells the full story of the truck - or will it in the future?
If Ford goes ahead with this it is a personal issue to accept or not accept the issue on delivery, My issue is not with Ford but I am concerned with trusting the dealer. I would suggest that anyone who accepts this go ahead and take the Ford - 0%/36m financing and not pay cash.
