I would check again. Something is terribly wrong with your order unless you ordered from one of those dealers offering $3,000 under invoice with very few allotments.
Ordered a First Edition from a new dealer not many allocations. Hoping for next Thursday.

Unless the Maverick was specifically listed, I am not sure it is well equipped enough to qualify for this sort of thing even in top trim after looking at the spreadsheet posted earlier.

But reading the people cheering this on makes me realize Ford didn't just underestimate demand for the Maverick.. they underestimated the desperation. This is a big purchase and the things consumers are willing to accept concerns me about what the automakers may realize they can get away with in the future.

I've been a part of many car forums and owned some very nice cars in my time and I don't think I've ever wanted any of them - or perhaps anything - as much as some of you want a Maverick.

So true. The desperation for this truck is off the charts. To each their own. I’ll just sit back like I’ve been doing ever since July and wait my sweet time for the truck I ordered.

I have a question. I keep hearing there are lots full of vehicles waiting on chips. Whose vehicles are these? Are they the dealers? Are they builds that were built, i.e. a build date was given to the buyer, and they are just sitting there waiting for chips. Or has Ford decided to not build Maverick unless they can build them complete up to now? I recently read another post on this forum about how Ford will likely only produce 1/3 of the vehicles they expected to build this model year. Is this Ford's solution to this? Have they been building Mavericks without contacting buyers because they know chips will cause a delay in shipping? Which means they could drastically increase the number of sold units over the next few months as long as buyers understand the vehicles are incomplete and they will make them complete over the next year.

I ordered a Hybrid XLT late. Early October of 2021. I see them scheduling builds for May, and I am starting to get concerned my build will get cancelled. I have not heard anything from the dealer yet about making modifications to my order, so I have begun looking into similar builds available at dealers
They are Ford's until they ship to a dealer. Then they are the dealer's until they get the money and deliver it to the end -user customer.

Im wondering if there are usable chips that can be taken from junked vehicles???
Then you have used electronic parts on a new vehicle. Who wants that?

Heck, even an auto parts store always has the sign: "No returns on electrical components".

I would be very surprised if Ford sends trucks without chips for Co-Pilot 360. That would be very stupid. My guess would be chips for Luxury Package ie: heated seats, heated steering wheel. Ford won’t risk safety for productivity, they would have massive law suits if there were accidents.
“Before we give you the keys, please sign this 6 page liability release.” I’m sure that will be a part of this.

Who do you think is doing it at the factory in Mexico?
A rocket scientist?🤔
Exactly, they are all in modules built by robots at a supplier's plant, then shipped to the Hemosillo, Mexico plant as that module to just bolt in and connect to a wiring harness. Easy installation that way.

If it is not a federal or state safety requirement feature for a new vehicle. And is a trim level/ optional add on..
Then good luck trying to sue anybody over it... Think about that a minute it is a peace of mind feature... Do some people need it? Maybe yes then u have other options on vehicles to buy.. But just because u think it is a required safety feature doesn't mean the law or courts will think the same... That's the same as saying I wanted a bright yellow truck for the safety cuz it might be easier to see... I'm going to sue cuz this brand / model doesn't have it as a option.. And how dare they sell me one that isn't this color because it not a option or aval at the time I want it...
Plus u are also forgetting g the fact that ford just like most other companies have team of layers and accounts.. Crunching #'s and liability issues over should they just pay lawsuit claims or issue a recall on known issues which will be cheaper on them
I’m guessing a large sticker placed somewhere that says “CoPilot 360 not active” would do the trick, as well as “You want the pickup? Sign this liability waver.” I’d sign it no problem.

Ford will sell partially built vehicles awaiting chips or related components that control non-safety critical features, it told dealers today.

Dealers will get the missing chips within 1 year to install on the already-sold vehicles, Ford said.

news story:

DETROIT – Amid an ongoing chip shortage, Ford is reportedly planning to ship and sell vehicles without certain non-critical chips as the automaker deals with a pile of unfinished vehicles.

Automotive News reports that Ford told dealerships on Saturday that they plan to sell vehicles without chips for some non-safety features, with plans to install them in the already-sold cars within a year.

Ford, like other automakers, has been dealing with a shortage of semiconductor microchips, and have a growing inventory of vehicles waiting for chips.

Ford isn’t the first to eliminate some chip-powered features. GM temporarily dropped heated seats in some models earlier this year.
This is sad for all those waiting. First off we outsourced too much of our technology, secondly we outsourced to people who hate us, all in the name of companies making a dollar more here and there. We need plants and jobs back in America for, at the very least, the security of our future as a 1st world nation. Sorry, it's the Veteran in me coming out. Continued good luck to those stuck in this void.

Might be worth looking at the module list to see what actually could be left out. This is the known module list from another post where some of the guys have been diligently scanning built Mavericks using Forscan.

1647192977608.png

Many of these modules are essential for driving the vehicle (eg PCM) or mandatory safety functions (eg RCM) and could not be removed.

That leaves few options that could be safely left out, stuff like door modules (DDM/PDM), keyless entry (RTM), wireless charging (WACM) or parking aids (PAM). Some of the biggies for CP360 would be the IPMA (which must contain a big processor) and SODL/R modules.

Other than those few, what else could be left out from a practical or legal compliance perspective? This initiative may be more suited to high spec F150s, which are loaded with additional gadgets.
Thanks, great post!

Admittedly I sold my vehicle once I had my Ford order confirmation, thinking the wait would be a couple months no big deal. Going into the 8th month with no build date. Using my wife’s car. 1st world problem I know, but still a big PIA.

I think that there's a few companies that are now taking steps to bring back manufacturing to the USA, but it's going to take some years to do that and until then it's going to be a bumpy ride!

It took me almost two years to get through the air bag fiasco with Ford on my 06 pony.
