For being the oldest and most well known car company that revolutionized the world and car manufacturing as we know it, I still say they can do much better.

5-6000 units per month is horrible in my opinion when you compare it to Toyota/Honda.
Some Toyota Tundra's are taking a 1.5 years to be delivered.

Really? You ordered 1/21 and you expect communication? This is completely ridiculous? What do you expect? An update on how Javier is doing on the door alignment portion of the production line? Get real dude

Do you not understand that these products have been in development for probably somewhere between 5 and 10 years? Do you not agree that the economy, supply chain circumstances and demand for vehicles overall was vastly different 5 years ago when the framework for the Maverick rollout was probably developed in concept? By the time the pandemic and supply chain crisis reared their ugly heads the process was already locked an loaded, you can't just make major changes on the fly.
No, because it was designed and developed in less than 3 years. And while the argument can be made for supply chain, then you adjust and make those adjustments known. Ford has left people in the dark. Tim Bartz shouldn’t have to step up and carry them. My issue is, Ford is struggling to produce. Why introduce new models when you don’t have the resources to complete them. Someone posted they just received their Bronco order 568 days later, that’s insane.

I think Ford’s biggest problem is themselves. They rushed to market a low costing truck. There’s no way a focus group didn’t tell you this would be a super hot in demand vehicle at a great price point. The biggest problem is, they can’t meet demands. It started with the Bronco , now the Maverick, and the Lightning is next up.
I think the focus group found that there would be a niche that the Mav would fit in and generate a reasonable first year amount of orders. Enter the previously mentioned sh**show and people who would have bought the F150 are now looking at rising gas prices and now want a more economical truck, people didn't have the income they had prior and now want this less expensive truck, etc-etc. Things occurred that a psychic wouldn't see coming much less some focus group flunky doing surveys.
Name pretty much ANY product being made that hasn't had some issues the last 3 years much less Ford with a truck that has 5 or more years of development involved.

But it’s not just a niche vehicle. Take the truck part out of it. How many vehicles in the last 2 years can you name that start at $20k? Now factor in rising used car prices since 2020. If you’re focus groups and research market can’t point these things out and you predict accordingly, then maybe hire someone new.

Ford announced in January 2019 the plans to produce a compact pickup along with showing off a pre-production prototype.

In order to have that prototype truck there was development LONG before 2019. The problem is the layman has NO concept of just how complicated it is to create a new vehicle. Everything down to the screws that will be used, including their length to only use the just right size to avoid excess production costs, is part of the creation process. An entire production can be shut down by the lack of one part and that's in a world without the issues we have now.

This is an excellent documentary is "A Faster Horse" on the development of the 2015 Mustang. A different vehicle ,yes, but it shows everything a manufacturer has to deal with.

I'm sure they'll be happy to accept your application and marketing expertise.

And I didn't say "niche vehicle". I said "niche the Mav would fit in" as in the existing small truck market.

Ford is reinventing itself right now, lots of growing pains. They are moving to 2 separate but connected divisions, the EV and the ICE. Also they are moving the auto industry to a build-to-order model so that you don't have to just take what the dealer has on his lot and that there are less unsold vehicles at the end of the model year. I can see dealers completely set up differently with showrooms and repair facilities, no huge lots of autos sitting around.

The chief engineer is quoted as saying they did it in 3 years, cutting 20 months out of product development. Again, I understand they ran into supply issues. But why are they not scaling back and working on completing orders they have instead of taking pre/orders on new models. Customer opinion and satisfaction is taking a hit.

If they list common sense as a qualification, I’ll be happy to apply :)

Much like my Porsche dealer - one of the top dealerships in the country, and their entire new car inventory is nine vehicles. Only one of which is a 911. Oh, by the way: ordering a Porsche can often take many months (or longer if the ship bringing it here sinks).

Thanks for

I feel the same, my first Ford not my first truck. I don’t need a big truck this will fit my needs perfectly.Has Ford made some mistakes along the way, yes. Could Ford predict building a new truck during a global pandemic,no.
I like the dog in the pic!
