Yes, agreed, it’s something I’m having checked Tuesday… it’s no longer new car break in or burn off smell. I can’t find any leaks poking around, but I haven’t laid under truck and taken off the “skid felt”… the level is ok on oil, so either it was spilled at factory/install, or something else… I did notice the white imprinting and wording on the drive belt/accessories belt was getting dark or soiled looking…. But it’s dry, never had a belt that had markings on it to tell this before…? So I’m watching closely till then. When I first got it I noticed a dribble/run of oil from the top left corner metal part of engine down to the top by belt. I wiped it up and nothing since….Your engine bay isn’t really supposed to smell of oil though…. So the source problem isn’t your doors or the bay sealing. I dunno if someone mentioned this to you already
I’m also curious enough… that with tomorrow finally being nice and almost hitting 70F I may lay under the mav and remove the felt cover and see what I find… part of me hopes it’s just a little spill at factory… but the logical part of me knows that’s not a normal smell… a new clean engine bay should only smell like well…not much but clean new and warm plastic/metal lol sorry hard to explain. It just smells like the engine oil on the right side of the truck and sometimes if it’s windy after a drive I can smell it on driver side… it’s not the new car burn off smell. Thank you for also standing up against this odd idea about the cost of the truck means it’s ok for it to not have its parts, be safe, and operate at its fullest etc.Not to sound or come off like a jerk, the issue is that they likely had supply issues sourcing the insulation, so they let some trucks out without it.
As for "it's a 20k truck," that's right: it is a cheap truck.
That cost a minimum of 21.5k when shipping costs are factored in.
The truck wasn't free: someone had to pay for it. There's nothing wrong with expecting a product to meet certain standards. If a consumer has expectations of premium plastics being used, a high resolution screen for the stereo, that's one thing; it's quite another to express concerns about missing insulation, paint finish issues, etc.
Are there any other "insulator" parts that the Lariat or Hybrid models have that can easily be added to EB cars?Gang- got home did some searching… here is the part number, cost, build blow-out/3-D diagram… one could argue it’s for all mavericks except the 2.0 XLT and 2.0 XL!?!?!? That’s shitty… especially for the damn up charge… I’m sure my friendly ford dealer and or ford themselves will hook me up… but it’s cheap otherwise… I will let you know if I get it installed. Great question—- we’ll there is the windshield… lol and there is a pillow style insulation behind the back seat… depending on some having some not.. most with the B&O sound package. I’m also wondering if there is any in the front dash/flooring areas.. I will keep searching…. Best I have found is lariat with lux package states some acoustic sound advantages???? Maybe the lariat guys can chime in… I am going to get the engine cover, the side fender insulators, and if I ever have to have the windshield replaced I will get the lariat glass… these are cheap upgrades I don’t mind doing myself…. I couldn’t source a lariat w/lux in the color I wanted…Are there any other "insulator" parts that the Lariat or Hybrid models have that can easily be added to EB cars?
Thank you! Ok so see yours are actually attached unlike many who even have it and isn’t attached just shoved in… wow…I just looked at my Hybrid Lariat. Each front door has black molded plastic bolted into place, thus blocking the opening from engine compartment to cabin side of the opening. Tiny opening at the top of that, and it doesn't't look as if there is any insulation at that point.
I have not detected any odors or unusually loud sound to this point.

I've driven both the Hybrid Mav and the Ecoboost Mav and I thought the hybrid motor was much less refined even with the noise of the high pressure fuel pump on the direct injected ecoboost motor. I did not notice if these were present on either vehicle but my thinking is that the hybrid Mavs probably need this a lot more than the ecoboost Mavs do. Especially on take off when the hybrid's ICE engine engages I thought the motor was seriously unrefined and loud and crude sounding compared to the ecoboost motor.Bothers me that a "cheaper" hybrid XLT would get them but not my more expensive Ecoboost AWD XLT.
If they are both XLT why wouldn't the more expensive model get them too?
Wish they would have just let us option it at purchase - I think if they had said - "additional noise dampening insulators between engine compartment and cab and behind rear seat - $100" I would have paid for it.
They must do something if the engineers put them in there - seems weird to leave the off.
Maybe grab a picture of you can? Is it attached to the top flange with the hole in my pictures or to the side of the inside frame? Interesting analogy…. Probably true… maybe I got a noisy mav…. My ecoboost powertrain is a slight noisy at times… it goes between a growling kind of scuddy noise to being almost silent while sitting in driveway/stop lights etc… sometimes it vibrates and sounds tinny at stop lights and acceleration. I don’t mind it knowing the fuel pressure and setup lines are noisy out the gate… but I would say it’s noisy on shifting under 50mph.. I no longer drive in normal mode and only eco mode as it’s quieter!
