Well they are not cheap in Brazil...

The first batch of Mavericks in Brazil consisted of 300 units, all Lariat FX4 models with Ford’s 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 and a sticker price of R $239,990 ($47,513 USD). Buyers will receive their pickups within 60 days, and the next batch is already available to order through dealers. The very first Mavericks arrived in Brazil last October to help support the launch, though those models – like all Mavericks – are produced at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico and imported into Brazil.

It seems like new cars are more expensive in general in Brazil. Chevy S10 appears to start at over $50k and even Corolla's are higher.

$48k msrp for Mavericks in Brazil. Minimum wage there is like $250/month to give you an idea. It’s my second home and I kind of take offense to this. Ford has a major footprint there too.

If you really want support for your statement, then show what other trucks are selling for in that county. Like Toyota sells worldwide and I bet a Tacoma type truck is sold there.

Really, if Ford is screwing Brazil and the economy is bad, then they won't sell many.

Hating Ford is just a waste of time. Nobody is making anyone buy a Ford. Get over it.

They are probably still mad about them building Shelby Mavericks down there.

Actually, it may be that Brazil are screwing themselves royally. Saw somewhere that any vehicle produced in Mexico, and not just Ford, that arrives in Brazil will cost an average of 33.25% more than the amount charged for the same model, in an equivalent version, in Mexico. This is because the Brazilian tax is surprisingly composed of three taxes: ICMS (12%), PIS/Cofins (11.6%) and IPI (which varies from 7% to 13%, depending on the cubic capacity of the engine) over the base price of the vehicle. And so, maybe Ford is just complying with local legislation and applying those crazy taxes, and unfortunately folks down in South America have no other choice but pay premium prices.

Just do what Tom Brady did and import one of their great looking women. I bet he didn't pay any taxes to bring Ms. Bündchen to live with him in the U.S.
