For those who are Costco members & buy gas there, what are you finding as the average savings per gallon compared to your local stations? (interested in all grades of gas)

They just opened a new Costco close to me, and I'm considering a membership just to access their gas pumps, as I've heard they are consistently cheaper than regular gas stations. Just wondering if others have found this beneficial?

I feel like it's usually 10 to 15 cents around here. Never enough to go out of my way (closest is like 10 miles away) filing up the 12 gallon tank of my old Corolla (pretty much the same with my new mav). Will usually fill if I had less than half a tank when I was already there.

I would say that unless you use Costco as a food place as well as for gas then you probably will save $$. You have to consider the Annual Fee you pay to warrant just using it for gas.

I have a Sam's Club membership and use it for both buying food/supplies and gas. Sam's Club membership is lower too than Costco by $15 last I checked.

Yeah. I definitely wouldn't get the membership for the gas. I basically have a membership for the cheese (and Virginia peanuts 😍). Everything else is gravy.

Cheese & Nuts 🤣 . I had nuts for my breakfast. I go for the Chicken wings & steaks. Buy a rack and your set for the summer.
Edited to add, and buy a rack and your air fryer for the winter months.

This new one is right on the route to my cabin build site, a nealy 200 mile round trip. And driving 20K+ miles a year, if the gas is consistently 10-20 cents cheaper, that would pay the $50 membership, plus another $50+ minimum, maybe more. Not great, but it's savings from something I need to do regardless, and no change of convenience.

I live about 6 miles from our Costco, I only get gas for our 2 Fiesta ST’s, both need premium
for my old ranger, I only use regular so it’s not worth the trip as I only save a few cents per gallon.

But for the Fiesta’s it’s well worth it as I save around 45 cents per gallon. Also if you get there credit card you get 4 percent cash back on gas, 2 on most other things at Costco
last year we got much more back than the membership cost, plus all the cost savings

well worth it IMO!

45 cent discount for premium is great! If I ever get my Mav, I'll be using premium in the summer, so that's pretty significant.

Find out the exact numbers yourself at gasbuddy.com

Sugar Land Costco is currently $2.89 for example, whereas the nearby Exxon is $2.99 and and Shell is $3.04.

Also, some gas stations have reward points, so my Krogers I track it until its maxed out, and even though I usually use Costco I'll time it so that when I'm bone dry in the truck with its 32 gallon tank I use the $1 off per gallon, so even if its say $3.05 it ends up being $2.05 which can't be beat.

Lol. My breakfast most mornings is an orange and a handful of peanuts. I definitely get meat there. They usually have great deals on strip roasts (for Christmas roast beef) when everyone is getting rib roasts for the holidays. I wish my Costco still stocked the "Texas Fillets" (ribeye cap/deckle rolled & tied up). Those are by far the best steaks I've ever cooked.
