Ok this is a safe space so I'm going to be honest. I had a freak out about 3/4 of the way through the 7 month wait. I started a thread but a couple of members diffused me pretty quick and I got back to being more levelheaded about this whole process.

Maybe that's what other members here are going through to. They have their one freak out moment post about it then get some reassurance from other members who have gone through the same thing or are going through the same thing.
Honesty is healthy! Lol thanks for that. Did you finally get your truck??

I don't believe I am pissed or upset, rather befuddled how Ford brought it to market, kept saying Mavericks were going to be delivered and yes some were, stating the cause was chip shortage then push delivery back by weeks only to see the same reason pop up again and again. Then as in our case we were to take delivery on Feb 18 only to get the same excuse once more with another push back on the delivery date to May. We did have a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander which was totaled by Hurricane Ida and the insurance covered 99% of it. That money is being used to pay for the Maverick. Now our main transportation is our 2002 PT Cruiser that has a slipping clutch, needs new shocks, engine runs rough as heck, electrical problems, and looks like it got in a fight with rocks and boulder after Ida hit. Oh I forgot, the odometer will turn 300,000 miles very soon. So that places us in a conundrum. Do I spend around $2000 getting it "reliable" only to junk it after the Maverick arrives, or NOT sink money which we no longer have thanks to Ida while risking the PT Cruiser to last until the Maverick does arrive and then junk it. Lest we forget the recent history how this blasted computer chip and trucking issue keeps rearing its ugly head and could very well cause ANOTHER delay. As you can see, I , as many others, are in screwed up situations that stem from COVID and the governments lack of doing something to get people back to work instead of paying them to remain unemployed. While I understand very little how the chip shortage came to be so huge, I feel it should have started to slowly be resolved instead of what seems to be a dead stop.
yikes. This is the disaster story we hate to see. Totally understand the frustration.

I not mad, I'm irritated. Heck, i'm not even surprised.

I wish I had found this place before I ordered. I likely wouldn't have.

Fell for the dealer's "12 weeks" BS. They bought my truck at that time. I've been borrowing a vehicle since then and it has gotten old having no info, no estimates, "might" get built this year. If they would tell me:
A. Yes we can do it but we expect it to be XX amount of time.
B. No we can't get it built this year due to factors out of our control

I would be 100% good and could make a decision. There is a '22 Frontier exactly like I would order at the dealer below MSRP but that isn't what I really wanted. If I need to get it to have a truck I can but I don't want to and then my Mav gets built.

I called Ford today and spoke to the nicest lady you could have asked for but they have tied the Customer Service reps hands and limited what they can see. My dealer is not any help-I know more than they do.

This is organized compared to how Lightning ordering is going LOL. That was my first choice but then they removed the extended battery option from the pro so I was out. Not spending 75k+ on a pickup truck.
Thats really rough that they took your truck right away. The dealer i went through gave me a quote and told me the trade in will likely depreciate at the same rate as my payments so itd be a wash when i finally get my mav and transfer payments to that instead.

whats the used market like by you? Here, i think you could buy the frontier, then just flip it when your mav comes.

I was mad because my previous car failed a month before my truck was delivered. I had to bum a car from my parents, which is embarrassing, and every days I was digging through emails hoping Ford was getting me my Maverick. It just made everything so slow and miserable.

Of course, I know intellectually there isn't squat Ford could have done. But emotionally it was incredibly frustrating playing the waiting game.
I hear ya! Glad you got your truck in the end

I’m a grumpy old fart. I Like my hybrid maverick. It was worth the wait. I have enjoyed the forum and found it to be quite helpful as a solace during the half year patience trial. Hopefully, this place in cyberspace will become an archive for all things Maverick for future generations to peruse.

Do you wish you just bought one from dealer inventory? You sound like a reasonable person 😂 theres a lot angrier than you from what i’ve seen here
I periodically check Ford's inventory site for Mavericks within a 100 mile radius of my zip because that's about as far as I'd be willing to travel. I've even called on a few, but the markups are so insane that I'm probably just going to stick it out with my order. If I found one at MSRP (or maybe $500-$1000 over) that had all the options I want I'd definitely consider it, but it's not worth paying a huge markup for. This car bubble won't last forever and I don't want to be stuck with a severe depreciation in a few years just to get something now. As I told one of the dealers, "markups are for people who lack impulse control."

Its possible you just got more angry about people getting angry, than 80% of the people that are angry here 😂

kidding aside. I lean your way in this arguement lol but i like to hear people express themselves lol
I've been on forums where there's been long wait times before. First was my Scion FR-S which people were waiting a while for and then my WRX where I personally waited 6 months for my special order and I didn't see any whining at all. Just wish this place was more on the side of constructive conversation like the people who are experimenting with Forscan instead of people trying to crack the code of Ford's allocation system and then crying about it.

I lucked out - I just wanted a new vehicle that I could make my own, the Maverick XL ticked the boxes and my neighborhood dealership had one on the lot. I didn't choose my color or the options, I just went for it before I lost the chance. I know how impossibly rough it must be to have the string strung along for so many months when, in the beginning, it felt like these trucks were going to happen in an orderly fashion. Nothing sucks more than looking forward to something that just keeps moving farther and farther away. I feel for that, seriously.

For me, the only thing that grinds my gears here is when people look at the work I'm doing on my truck and then talk shit about how I should have just bought a higher trim, how I must hate my truck etc. It's my goddamned truck! Whomever pays my monthly payments for me can totally tell me off for the shit I'm doing lol

I don't need to do a thing to my truck to make it great, but what's great is I can do things myself to make it even better.

That said, for every person whispering in the crowd that "I shouldn't have bought an XL if I wanted a Lariat", there are so many more of y'all that celebrate and enjoy the work being done, and I appreciate the hell out of that.

To those whisperers: Stay mad.

I stopped by my dealer today in Quincy MA. He had two XLT AWD, 1 FX4 Lux for retail. in Area 51. Still waiting on my Lariat. I do like the Area 51 color that I ordered.

I’m just baffled how the orders are picked. Seems like time ordered is not very high on the priority list. Also at this point kinda happy to get a later build so the little problems will hopefully be worked out and I don’t have to have my new vehicle getting covered in salt/sand from the winter. Hope to have it this spring and another thing the value of the car I’m trading in has gone up quite a bit so that’s great too 😊

Indeed....It finally arrived and we bought it but it took 7 months. Now I'm sticking around to help other members understand the process and just how long it can take.

I'm also adding after market accessories like crazy and showing them off. :D

Haha totally agree with this! I tried to get a thread going for DIY ideas and got no responses. But this threads trending haha ah well. We’re all here for some kind of therapy. Id rather people help me customize my truck. But this is fun too
