The members are what make this club extraordinary.I ordered a Mabett tailgate hole cover 2 days after I bought my Maverick (May 15th, '24). The hole cover arrived a few days later (Amazon purchase), and it was actually the first mod or accessory I bought for my truck. Imagine my disappointment when it didn't' fit. I mean, it Did. Not. Fit. Would NOT go into that hole, even when I tried to use a deadblow hammer. Every angle, front end first, back end first, push this way, press that way, hold my tongue and elbow at just the right angle to please the gods .... didn't matter. Wasn't goin' in!! Lol! Hubby even tried, and he's very strong. It wasn't' goin' in there. Poor mold? Misshapen? Bad trim job? Who knows?! Straight back to Amazon it went!!
Enter several members of this forum who suggested purchasing said tailgate hole cover from our own group member, @P99Guy. I contacted him, and his response was almost immediate. In spite of dealing with storm damage in his own town and yard, he sent out a tailgate hole cover to me right away, told me to "try it out". His customer service is amazing!
The part arrived in today's mail, and what a difference! The cover fits nice and snug, is well constructed and sturdy (thicker than the one I returned to Amazon), and is pretty simple to insert. Takes a little elbow grease, but as I said, it's a good snug fit. And it looks great! Attached is a picture, but the reflection of the sun kinda got in the way (not to mention, it's kind of an awkward place to get a good shot. Lol!).
I just wanted to say thanks so much to David, for the quick service and quality product. $16, includes all.
If you're looking for a tailgate hole cover, this is the one you want. And the sales experience was 2nd to none!![]()

That was to allow to everyone a choice. I feel the 2 holes are just for manufacturing (I'm right BTW)Just curious before I order one is there a purpose for a vented one vs solid one? I have a hard top tonneau cover already an it gets hot in the Texas summer so I’m just thinking in my non educated way about this the vented might be better? If it matters I also have the spray in bed liner.
Yeah, you will like this one that David makes. It's a quality job. A much easier install, as well. It's nice and snug.Right on! I may have to get one too. I got the Mabett one on (barely) but not sure how long it will last or stay in place...
@P99Guy David admitted it when I made him offer the vented cover that they sell just as well or better than the solid. My opinion was to give people a choice. Who cares who’s write or wrong (David is) and which one looks cooler (the vented one does). I am just glad David approached me to make this product with him. I would have never gotten it going on my own. So thank you, David! You are a scholar and a gentleman. That was to allow to everyone a choice. others feel they are for Tailgate Ventilation (They are not).
I use a SOLID Opaque cover on my Wife's Mav. I am in DFW area and have the SIBL.
Richard chooses a slotted/vented black cover because it looks cool.
(I think he does it just to disagree) He wrote a full page funny post about it someplace.
Either way gets your holes covered!
