I think this is more than a little dramatic. In the pre-COVID world of surplus inventory and full dealer lots, it was not uncommon for cars (including hybrids) to sit for many moons waiting on a buyer. We bought one ourselves - a Kia Optima Hybrid. It had been on the lot for more than a year, including 2 GA summers. It had real leather seats and it was black in color inside and out. Not a single flaw from all the sun. The only thing the dealer had to do was replace the the tires because they had developed permanent flat spots from sitting. We spent 3 years and 40,000 miles with it before it was totaled by a deer. 4 of us road tripped from Miami, FL to NYC in it at one point with it. It consistently beat EPA MPG estimates and never had a single issue.

These things are not nearly as fragile as you guys think they are.
Yes I was speaking worst case scenarios.

But also, Georgia is not Mexico — and your hybrid on the lot ā€˜could be’ started up regularly by the dealership, taken through car wash to keep it pretty for customers, taken for test drives, used for employee errands etc.

Did you forget about the scorpions building nests under your seat?
Is this a real thing that’s actually happened to people?

So instead of a Maverick Raptor we’ll get Maverick Scorpion šŸ¦‚

GA gets very, very hot in the summers. It's not Mexico, but I think you're splitting hairs. Also, I included the bit about "had to replace the tires due to flat spotting" as a way of relaying to you that the car actually had not been moved at all. It had sat stationary and ignored for more than a year, through 2 summers.

Your truck will be absolutely fine.

Hahaha, not much I can do about it. I can walk away and spend $10k more for one off a dealer lot that isn't going to have the options I built or order something that is $15k more from Toyota or Nissan. And the Santa Cruz isn't even on my radar.

As long as the new car smell hasn't baked out of the passenger compartment I'm good.
When I got my Bronco Sport after it sat in the Mexican desert for seven months the new car smell was still there especially since all of the wrappings were still on it when received at the dealership. The only issue was the protective film that was on the exterior plastic pieces was never meant to be on it for so long and it had to go for detailing to remove the remnants of the adhesive without scratching the black shiny plastic.

Received e-mail 1-29-2022 @ 12:21AM that I had a built Maverick expected between February 19, 2022 and February 25, 2022.
Although I haven't gotten the dreaded e-mail yet but it seems that I get my updates a day later than the majority of people.
We have still never received a delivery delay email from Ford, even though our truck was due to arrive February 7th-13th. However, I called Ford Customer Service to inquire and was told we're delayed to May 8th-14th. At that time, even Customer Service didn't know the reason for the delay. When I called my sales guy about it, he hadn't heard a thing. (Ford really ought to have given the dealerships a heads up that customers would be calling in droves about this.) I am so grateful for the Maverick Truck Club and Tim Bartz's informative podcasts and posts! It's a huge disappointment to have to wait until May, when we were so close to receiving our hybrid that we sold our second car last week. At least the snow tires I gave my spouse for Christmas can get used next year.

I've seen a few posts from folks whose February delivery date has just today been delayed until May -- a three-month delay.

This is for trucks that have already been built, according to the tracker or the dealer's Vehicle History report.

Has anyone heard anything that would explain this?

(Mine went from 2/3/22 to 5/4/22. I'm in Tucson, Arizona -- 70 miles from Nogales where the train crossed the border -- so my truck would get off the train pretty much at the first stop in the USA. It doesn't seem like there should be much of a transportation delay.)

[EDIT] My truck is a hybrid, as it says in my signature. I don't know about the others.
Same thing for mine. Had a Feb date that got pushed to May 31 when I logged in over the wknd. Told it's due to trucks being being and then sitting waiting on chips

I have a first addition hybrid built on 1/14, to be delivered on 2/18, pushed back to 5/18 because of chip shortage.
