Good news, bad news. The salesman told me it was damaged and then sold it to someone else!

Not really curious, I can’t imagine what they would offer me to revise my review. No one could be bothered to return my calls/texts on Monday or Tuesday. I have my Lariat now, even though they don’t know, so I’m not in a big hurry to return their calls. Maybe I will in 4-5 days.
If you do contact them, please let us know how it went.

If you're local, drive your Lariat there just to see their reaction. Plus, a face to face conversation could be far more telling than a phone call.

I'm sorry about what happened. And it turns out it's not just you.

Yesterday, I visited with the owner of "my" dealership. She said that due to transport shortages they are using companies that they wouldn't normally use and are having much more damage than they usually do.

Most of the articles I see on truck driver shortages say that there are plenty of people who have the training to take these jobs. But many find out when they get into it that the pay and working conditions aren't what they expected. So they go and find better jobs elsewhere.
The Truck Driver Shortage in 2021 - The Dirty Truth No One Talks About (smart-trucking.com)
The Great American Trucker Shortage Isn't Real | Time

I can't really fault someone who leaves for a better job. Who wouldn't do that?

But it's putting a big crimp in the supply pipeline for us consumers.
On the way back this past summer. Hard to get a skyline shot due to all the trucks and in Northern AZ almost a steady stream... Go figure.

Maybe in a week or two but not inclined at this stage. Wonder if they’ll call again tomorrow?

I suspect they are very anxious to clear up this "little misunderstanding." At this point, they may be painfully aware of the MTC and might want you to call off the dogs (almost 400 postings thus far).

Seriously, I am extremely curious as to what they tell you. What can they possibly say to smooth this over?

That’s what I’ve been thinking, what could they possibly say to make this right? I haven’t looked how many online reviews but I doubt they’ve seen the almost 400 posts.

IMHO, I wouldn't waste anymore time. You got your truck and we have been warned.

I've only seen a handful of Google reviews.

There are several Google reviews based on your horrible experience. One of the reviews specifically mentioned the MTC:

"Stole a maverick order from a customer and lied about it. Sold it to someone else with higher markups. Don’t walk but runaway from them. Go to maverick truck club forum to read more about this slime bag dealer."

That’s pretty much the way I feel!

Not quite accurate as I did not have an order, just reserved it with DL and CC info. People need to read all the facts before posting a review, please!

Could the dealer have just punched the sale thinking it was good? Was it near last day of the month?
That might have been the case. Someone was drooling that they had one in stack and didn't bother to check any further. Who knows?

Maybe so, but why lie about it? The OP is obviously far from stupid.

The Maverick was damaged in transit and had be sent back??? Yeah, right...

Not everyone has the same moral compass as you, so yeah, someone might lie about it. Take away here is to be cautious and aware ... ask for documentation. Fortunately, she got her Maverick at another dealer.

I get that, but did you know your thread has something like 27 pages of posts? This is one of the most posted threads. I think people are so eager to help you they aren't necessarily checking all 27 pages. Of course, that's not your fault. I'm not sure how to end the thread but still keep people informed and aware. Perhaps check with an administrator before you go crazy!

Ok, I shouldn’t spill the beans about this, but my neighbors third cousin twice removed cuts the hair of the assistant to the assistant manager at the dealership. They are trying to reach her to give her a very expensive, special one of a kind gift to smooth over the misunderstanding. Museum level piece.

Wow! It's a dream come true! GreenLady is now living a Hallmark movie. Time for her to go Gary Yeomans Ford and get her group hug so all can be forgiven. I get teary eyed just thinking about it.
