I can only think of 2 things, a better education or a Louisville Slugger to the back of the head! People are generally stupid, they bounce around like a mouse in a maze till they get what they want regardless of the cost & then complain it cost too much.




$1,226 for the life of the loan. If financing $25,000. Good easy money for Ford.
Thats almost free money for borrowing, if you kept that 25K in a bank account you might get nearly $150 in 5 years.
I couldn't agree more with you. Common sense is such a good education. Sorry some people missed that day in school.

Unfortunately, Ford's stock price and the market forces that make ADMs a reality have no relationship in the way the OP frames it.

ADMS exist because supply is lower than demand.

Ford's stock is hurting because their profits are down as a result of not being able to build enough vehicles to sell.

As long as Ford flounders, ADMs will continue or only get worse.
Sad, but true. As someone who follows your video reviews, I consider you a man of intelligence and integrity. The intention of the OP was to provide insight to those who may not recognize the impact paying more than MSRP may have on them in their individual circumstances. Yes, everyone wants the new Maverick right now and when ordering many of us were not informed of the long-term delays because dealers were also not aware of how this would play out. The Bronco Sport and Bronco situation should have shed some light on the situation if Ford was focused. But as a business, Ford needs to push ahead and build sales momentum and I totally understand that. Many have twisted the true message of the post, which was to make people recognize what MSRP means, and how consumers do not need to pay more than necessary in MOST cases. I am reminded of the great toilet paper shortage a couple years back. Supply and demand always cause issues, but we don't have to feed into them always.
Thanks for having a commonsense view on the post. I really enjoy your test drives and product reviews and continue to be a fan. From a fellow desert dweller who thinks you are really great!

California is more environmentally conscious and has a much better charging infrastructure. I'm not sure but I believe California offers tax incentives to buy EVs on top of the federal incentives. California has done a lot to support Tesla just like Michigan has done a lot to support the Big 3 and keep Tesla out. Neither of these two regions would be a good indicator of the popularity of such vehicles.
Having been born in CA in 1958 and calling it my home until 2017 when I escaped, I can speak to this. Yes they offer incentives, but they usually have an annual cap of vehicles sold. They DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT have a better, or even adequate charging structure in place. They have a very shaky electric grid statewide and have cut off their noses to spite their faces by shutting down so much traditional power sources like natural gas and Nuke that they regularly have rolling brown outs or black outs each Summer. This last Summer their ISO issued multiple power alerts advising people NOT to charge their EVs at home because grid was strained. The CARB air resources board leader also publicly admitted they DO NOT NOW and do not foresee EVER having enough charging infrastructure to supply the current number of EVs currently on the road and certainly not the expected increases coming.

They have passed multiple other self-defeating major laws and regulations in the name of appearing environmentally conscious (I won't go into real reasons behind it) that are now biting them in the ass and further hurting residents and businesses such as the mandate a few years ago that ALL new homes had to have solar power with panels on the roof. This added several thousand $ to cost to buy each home that was passed directly to buyers. Now, they announced they have TOO MUCH rooftop solar which overloads the grid and are banning new rooftop solar and stopped paying people for solar power they were feeding into the grid during the day. This has been followed by banning natural gas appliances in all new construction and forcing everyone to have all electric homes with soaring electric prices and further taxing the grid 🙃

There are endless examples of this stupidity by elected and appointed so-called "leaders" there! :ROFLMAO:

I'm sure they have a better charging infrastructure. Per Tesla's own website, there are only two superchargers in the entire Metro Detroit area. This past a summer, a little wind knocked out power to thousands of people for over week. I guess it could be worse, it could be Texas.
you can quickly google the facts I just laid out for you. CA may in fact have more CHARGERS installed than say Detroit, but not power grid- infrastructure. What good are more chargers when your grid operator tells you not to use them?

I think everyone can agree that there is too many damn people in Cali, all these issues you stated seem like a good way to deal with overcrowding. Before long it will just be surfers, latin americans, a few old rich folks, and the homeless. Anyone else that can leave, will. Just a theory.

Well I did Google it, and literally the first link that came up said that California did not ask people to not charge their cars and that claim is false. It asked residents to voluntarily curb electricity usage due to extreme heat which happens in Michigan all the time. In fact, I even have a smart meter on my house and the utility company even cuts my AC in the summer for periods of time.

Today, Ford announced lower than expected stock returns with an almost 8% drop compared to their expected 11.2% gain. Ford's financial expert says this is due to a chip shortage, but it really comes down to the fact Ford cannot move the product to dealers, and customers are not able to purchase their vehicle.

Ford recently stopped taking orders for Mavericks for the remainder of 2022, with orders resuming in late summer for 2023 models. Many of us who placed orders in June - August still await any sign of a build date from Ford or communication from our dealer. The semiconductor shortage was already a high priority for auto manufacturers before the June roll-out of the Maverick. Ford should have seen the limited ability to build another product in the Mexico plant that was already struggling to build Bronco Sport. Ford made no issue in controlling the on going demand of placing reservations to create a "Beannie Baby" or "Cabbage Patch Doll buying frenzy for a truck touted to be UNDER $20,000. It seems Ford allowed the orders to keep piling up knowing there would be long term delays. It is very sad that a new product as the Hybrid was rolled out in such unfortunate times; but it is very unresponsible for Ford to allow the orders to keep coming in, allowing more and more consumers to become angry and distrustful of the brand and their dealers. No wonder their stock is down.

Now, many order bearers are faced with a choice of waiting for an unknown timeframe in getting their Maverick, buying something else (Which ends in Ford not making a sale at all), or paying whatever a dealer asks. Enter unscrupulous, greedy, used car salesman!

For those who feel the need to purchase a Maverick from a greedy dealer who is marking the vehicle up $3000-7500, which I see in many local dealers, remember your decision will haunt you for a long time.

First, like any new car, your Maverick will depreciate 25% the minute you drive it off the lot. This depreciated amount is related to the MSRP, not your sales price. So, if you paid more than the MSRP, you really got screwed, because you now lost more than the expected depreciation. And if you took a loan out to buy the Maverick you will pay months longer for a car not worth what you owe. Also, any profit you may have made in your trade-in car was just dropped out the window forever due to you paying more than MSRP for your Maverick.

Second, your taxes on the car will always be based, year after year, on your purchase price, so each year you will be punished for paying more than you should have for a vehicle that is nowhere worth what you paid for it.

And third, your insurance will be based on what your car is worth (Kelly Blue Book) as identified from your VIN number. If you paid more than the MSRP, you better have GAP coverage as most insurance will not cover more than what the vehicle is worth.

All around, it is better to wait and pay the agreed upon price than to be bullish and foolish by paying more than retail just to be "the first Maverick on the block." Just my thoughts. Some may offer different opinions, but financially you are not doing yourself any favors by paying for Ford's mistake in tking orders for something they knew they could not produce.
After reading this it made me e think of what my salesman at Corwin Ford in Reno recently told me when I complained after her had a Maverick with an almost identical build as mine and didn’t give me an opportunity to purchase it. He freely admitted that they marked up the truck by $7500 and would sell it to me at that price. When my vehicle came in they would turn around and sell it for $7500 more, making $15000 from the transaction. Then he reiterated how I hot such a great deal. Needless to say, I’m going to limit how much business I do in the future with them! 🤔🤬

I'd take an EV Mustang if I were willing to spend money on two new cars. Of course, by the time I actually get the Maverick I'll probably have enough saved to pay cash for both.
I actually did exactly that Mav ordered 11/03/2020 and Mach E 11/13/2020 and honestly you could be very right ! Mav has shipped thank God! Mach E CRICKETS:) I actually bought the Mach E in hopes to keep my wife in the passenger seat of the Maverick :) Well as they say: the best laid plans LOL

Probably because the Maverick/Ranger/Bronco are the most in demand Ford vehicles and there aren't enough of them.

A lot of people buying more capable trucks for real towing are going with Dodge as they have a better value.

Nobody wants the EV Mustang, nobody wants the new Escape, the EcoSport is a joke of a vehicle, only police need the Explorers, and small little Transit/Contractor vans are sold out or have a huge markup.
Actually not accurate in at least florida when it comes to the Mach E . If you think the ADM is Abhorrent on the Maverick .The Mach E starts at 18 to 25K here .And you are buying a 2021 model! My dealer who does not charge ADM called me and said I have a used 2021 Mach E ( I have 2022 on order) so I asked the details. A guy traded it in after owning it for 6-8 months 12k miles on it .My dealership paid him $1000 over sticker and promptly sold it for 5k over sticker 20 minutes later. Again this dealer does not charge ADM on anything. But they are in the car business ,they do not charge ADM on new vehicles even orders that are turned down .Each salesman who has a turned down order has an opportunity to offer it to their customers that are waiting for MSRP .

Pretty sure the flux capacitor was for time travel. That was powered by plutonium or Mr Fusion. Didn't the car run on normal gas or pushed by a train?

California offers a 2,000 rebate for electric car ownership. It’s not even a tax rebate. Just straight up cash. They also offer incentives for lower income families to own a cleaner air vehicle, though I honestly don’t know how many lower income families are buying electric vehicles.

While California does seem enrivonmentally cautious, our laws seem to go about them in strange and wasteful ways. Prop 65 is a really good example. I don’t need a warning on every single item I buy that tells me my sunglasses can cause cancer. Banning ferret ownership is another example, since CA is one of only two states that does it, hiding behind some BS environmental studies. I love my state, though, as weird as it can be sometimes.

As for the poster that said no one wants the Mustang Mach-E, count my wife as “no one” then, since we just got one and love it. She gets compliments and questions from people all the time on it. You don’t see very many of them yet since they’re so new. Once Ford sorts out production issues you’ll see more of them. I see them on the freeways more often than expected. Even seen a couple fabled GTs.
