For those who have Mav's, how is your paint holding up? Specifically on the front bumper/grill area , hood and front quarter panels?

I ask because last year I read threads from people saying the paint was "soft" (lack of a better word) and had taken some hits from road debris, pebbles, etc and it had done a number on the aesthetics of the paint job. Some people suggested those aftermarket clear coat protection films but those cost $1,500 a front side of the vehicle....costly but necessary?

Thanks for your input!
Being in the automotive paint industry for the last 25 years, I can tell everyone that there is no difference is paint on a Maverick or Corvette or a Bentley. Now BMW a few years ago tired to use a Clear Coat that PPG ahead designed for the New York Subway system. It was to make removal of graffiti easier, ( It didn’t work) but BMW thought maybe the higher mil thickness of it would stops chips on the front. Guess what It didnt work for that either. A rock bouncing down the road hitting the front of your car with chip any paint on the market. As for the paint protection film that 3M and other company’s have yes it helps with chips but if you ever have to have your car painted you will pay to have it taken off and it’s not cheap. Most shops charge around 10 to 12 hours labor to remove. That’s at 50 dollars a hour. The only way to stop rock chips is to not drive.

What planet do you live on? I wish I could find $50 labor.

is it worth putting a ceramic coat on? Never did it before but might do it right away when the mav comes in (if it ever does).

I'ma follow Grey Ghost's knowledgeable advice and roll with the paint on the Mav. After all, it's not a 100K car.

Understand you’re in the industry and PPF is expensive but completely worth the $. It will save the paint from almost all rock paint chips. I don’t even bother with ceramic just the PPF over the front bumper / full hood makes a world of difference. It’s really not that bad if you have to remove, I’m sure it can be DIY unless you have the entire car wrapped is the only way I could see a 10 hr job to remove. The typical car only has a couple key panels done.
I’m doing 30k + miles a year, I’ll never commute without a car wrapped again.

The 3M film is the about the only thing I've ever seen actually provide some kind of protection from rock chips on the front end. Now, those rocks thrown up by trucks (or even cars with new, deep tread on them) that make perpendicular contact with your windshield will FYU every time :(

How much should one spend for a Mav? And which sections do you recommend having done ?

Thanks for the information!

Personally I have the whole bumper and full hood wrapped. They do partial hood options so at least get the front edge but having the whole hood adds the extra protection. Also you don’t have any lines from where the film stops. I wrapped the headlights in my current car also, keeps them like new.
Only thing I plan different when I get the Mav is to add the sideview mirrors. Film is just much easier to clean / maintain compared to paint so these surfaces that take abuse really benefit.
As for price point, depends on the film quality so there’s a range. Suntek is a quality 10yr film and I know they already sell precut for the Maverick. Haven’t priced it yet but probably around $1000 installed.
