I took my Maverick XL Hybrid for its maiden drive today. It passed with flying colors. The ride was smooth, it had enough peep, and it was somewhat quiet. People look at the truck while you are driving.

Every once in awhile I heard this breathing sound. I thought Darth Vader was a passenger with me. I was waiting for a voice to say,

“No. I am your Father .”

Or

“Calrissian. Take the princess and the Wookie to my ship.”

I guess Darth will be riding shot gun with me for a quite awhile.

I drive an electric car most of the time, so I'm used to unusual EV sounds. And, of course, I'm used to ICE sounds. Putting both engine types together makes for some amusing noises for sure!

I love that little electric whine from the motor, and the weird noise gremlins you get before the gas engine kicks in and it starts to roar. It sure as hell ain't my dad's Ram with a cummins. But it sounds like itself, and it sounds good.
