Window sticker $42.5K and 19mpg city ?

😅
Window $41.1K plus $1412 dealer add-on crap. Also, forgot to mention - I asked if I special ordered an SE or SEL, roughly what would be the time from "confirmed order to on their lot" time - answer was 3 to 5 months, so about inline with what I'd expect with the Mavericks.

"... get both the Maverick and Cruz into people's hands, drive them for several thousands of miles and draw conclusions. Lets get them up on lift, pull off some tires and do a few required maintenance checks"

The Maverick is a compact truck while the Santa Cruz is a sport adventure vehicle, Hyundai said so.

Nothing to compare as they are different vehicle classes.

Cancelled my Santa Cruz order

Looks like a nice product. Definitely something to consider if you're already spending Lariat Lux Ecoboost money - the SC offers a nicer cabin and more features

Go to 12 mins into this video, for the answer ...

Is it a truck ?

and hope that its not stolen ....

Hyundai Popular With Car Thieves
Is it just me or are the Canadian prices actually better than the US? Also, they only get the AWD 2.5T engine. It seems like without having the benefit of the Hybrid, what exactly would be the point of buying a Santa Cruz with the smaller engine...at all?

In regards to his opinion on it being a truck or not, well, given his quick follow-ups about Hyundai not marketing it as a truck, seems like he might as well have been reading their marketing materials :)

Also, why is there still an embargo on reviews when it is on their lots?

Strongly disagree that it's a nicer cabin. It might have more features, but all that shiny black plastic in the SC is a big nope for me. I think the Maverick is a lot nicer, even in the LX trim. Real buttons > touch panels.

That shiny black plastic is going to show every little scratch.

This is something we’ll known in show circles, black, especially shiny black hides absolutely nothing. Every flaw stands out like a sore thumb

My goodness that's an ugly vehicle. Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder, but... ouch. So glad I went with the Maverick.
Fixed it....

The maverick is a small pick up the Hyundai it is a car with a small open bed
Both the Maverick and Santa Cruz are based on crossovers with short beds. The Mav is based on the 2020 Escape platform and the Santa Cruz the 2022 Tucson, both FWD biased crossovers. Their specs are very close. Calling one a pickup and the other a sport adventure vehicle is purely an exercise in marketing/styling. Heck, with a few modifications (needs trailer brake controller), the Santa Cruz might be the better towing platform considering that it is available with a 275hp engine, 5K lb max tow capacity, and has a self-leveling rear suspension standard.

You're talking about from a design standpoint, which is subjective. While I agree that I much rather have dials and switches and am not a fan of piano black, considering the Santa Cruz is based on the Tucson, I can say without question that the interior materials quality is superior to the Maverick that has a lot of hard plastics on pretty much every surface. The biggest difference will be in top trims where the infotainment system is clearly superior and the hoodless widescreen digital instrument cluster that shows cameras in place of gauges when putting on your blinker is very impressive and the hidden AC vents that wrap around along with real leather ventilated seats look and feel upscale on the Santa Cruz.
