I texted my salesman yesterday asking a couple questions about my eco-boost order and ended with “Any chance a Maverick came in that the buyer didn’t want?” I couldn’t believe it when I got a phone call from him saying an XL hybrid just came in but there was a problem with the buyer‘s credit! A HYBRID was is my first choice! Of course I said yes and gave him a deposit! I wanted a Lariat with a sunroof and a different color but I am thrilled to buy this one! Feeling pretty lucky!

Update: Double Lucky??
Woke up yesterday with reservations about the XL and no cruise control for my monthly 7 hr drives. I use my cruise control all the time and I just didn’t think I could compromise buying a vehicle without it.

I decided to do what I suggested to someone else and I called 12 dealers around the area to put my name on a list for any XLTs or Lariats that ended up being rejected. I found a couple more XLs and then the very last dealer I called had just received a cancellation on a Lariat hybrid! The only compromise on this order was the color and no moonroof. My friends have tried to discourage me from this one because of the color, saying I’m too conservative but I’ve decided it will be fun!

It’s supposed to arrive any day now and I’m excited! Trying to figure out the best tonneau cover for me that I can handle myself…trifold hard or hard rollup. Any thoughts from those who have covers? Thanks!

i would consider calling several dealers and ask a salesman to let you know if a buyer can’t qualify for financing. It seems as though many of the first orders were placed by employees and some of them may not be able to obtain credit. That’s why I’m getting this one, the employee wasn’t able to qualify. i wasn’t the first one they called but everyone else didn’t want this truck because it was the basic model with no upgrades. I wanted a Lariat model, a different color, etc but knew buying this one would be a good move. I make a 444 mile trip twice a month and the gas for this truck will save me a bunch of money instead of driving my 20 mpg F250 diesel! If I love the Maverick as much as I expect to I plan on ordering another hybrid or possibly the EV in the Lariat model in August and selling this one.

Not sure if "lucky" is the term I'd describe about someone paying a markup.

Thats how I ended up getting mine. They had TWO Hybrids people failed to get financing for. A XL and a Lariat trim. I bought the XL and my buddy who likes the shiny stuff got the Lariat. First two in our little city to get a Maverick Hybrid. Paid a ADM for it, but worth it IMO.
