Ford Maverick What is this little black box for? 2022 Maverick behind seats audio wiring am

I've googled the numbers on the white label to no avail. I've tried to disconnect the two connectors and start it up expecting some warning flashing up. Nothing showed up. Also, it didn't seem to make any difference to the sound system.

The reason I'm asking is that I purchased an amplified sub. I'm trying to figure out the best way to connect it. Low-level signal would be preferred. Adapter(s) would be preferred over slicing.

Thanks in advance for any insight or suggestion.

That's the trailer tow light/brake module. It has a constant 40a power to it, but no audio signals.

To be honest, looking at your pic, you already have a factory amp and subwoofer on the passenger side you could tap into.

I believe it for fordpass
The TCU (FordPass) is under the center console and has 2 separate Coax cables and a 16 pin (only 4 used) main connector running to it.

Thanks for the info!

That is not my pic. I reused something I found on this forum.

I think the picture may be a lariat It looks like it has the motor for the power sliding back window. I’m interested in that setup and if the power sliding window can be added easily.

The factory amp is behind the pass seat, on the right hand side of that photo, above the subwoofer. It has a finned, aluminum housing for heat dissipation.

So, I think that's the factory amp for non-bang and olufsen upgraded systems, where as the bang and olufsen systems have the amp behind the rear passenger seat and are silver/grey.

I think there is other stuff in that black box not related to audio, judging by the fact that the bang and olufsen systems also have that black box.

Mine has the standard sound system, with no silver/grey amp behind the rear passenger seat. The standard system only has the black box behind the rear driver's side seat. It's also pretty dismal, to be honest. Will be upgrading mine in the near future.

Base audio has the speakers hard-wired into the radio unit in the dashboard.

The black box is the Trailer tow module.
