Hey all,
Today I swapped out the awful base XLT speakers, except the tweeters.
In the front doors, I put in Kicker 48ESC65
In the rear pillars, I put Scosche HD4004SD
I cut and soldered all connections, no adapters.
In the rear, the new speakers just screwed right into place where the stock ones were.
In the front however, I had to get creative with the front mounts. I had some decently strong pressed wood paneling in the shop, so I custom cut and drilled adapter plates for the speakers. I'll attach a picture. I also used a rotary tool to notch out a spot for the speaker wires to leave the housing.
Anyway, the reason I wanted to make this post was to share this 3D model I made of the Kicker logo. Since the B&O system gets the little B&O badge in the recessed part of the speaker grill, I wanted to make a Kicker version. I'm probably going to print in green and glue them on, haven't decided on what glue to use yet.
So, here's the link to my thingiverse page where you can find the .stl file.
Thanks!
