I just placed my order. For anyone else looking at these, they are cheaper on Mangoal’s site than Amazon at the moment. And my 7-15 day standard shipping was free as well. Can’t wait to install these!

Yeah, going straight down the center of the headliner works fine and completely bypasses the side curtain airbags.

We don't have a video specifically for the middle-headliner route, but here are two videos showing the other common ways ust for reference:
  • Upper door frame video:
  • Lower route video (11:13):

I assume that the provided harness will be compatible with the power sunroof?
Yep, it works totally fine with the power sunroof.

Our harness actually taps into the power source behind the rearview mirror, not the sunroof plug. So whether your Maverick has a power sunroof or not doesn't change anything, and running the dashcam won't affect your sunroof operation at all.

I'm looking at the Mangoal Front 4K HDR Dash Cam STARVIS 2 for Ford 1st Gen Maverick 2022-2024(Model A) for my 2022 Maverick XLT.

My other option is the Mangoal 4K Dash Cam for Ford 1st Gen Maverick 2022-2024 (Model A). I don't want or need a rear camera. What makes the STARVIS 2 so much better to justify the $111 price difference?

I assume that both dash cams store data on their local MicroSD cards, correct? Are the MicroSD cards used in the cams the typical ones that can be purchased at any electronics store?

I was reading on the forum here that the GPS signal module can be placed inside the black plastic lane assist box to keep a clean look. Can you please confirm that I can use this space to hide it.

Even for front-only use, the main upgrade comes down to the Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 sensor and hardware HDR/WDR. Night vision, low-light clarity, and reading license plates under heavy headlight glare are significantly better than standard 4K. It also upgrades the connection to 5GHz Wi-Fi, making video downloads to your phone much faster.

For storage, yes—everything is saved locally on the MicroSD card with zero subscriptions or cloud fees. You can pick up a standard card at any store, just make sure it’s rated U3 / V30 (up to 512GB) to handle 4K video write speeds.

For the GPS module, we don't recommend putting it inside the plastic lane assist cover since the electronics in there can block the signal. If you want a clean look without sticking it directly on the glass, you can mount it on the outside of the sensor housing like in the attached photo. It keeps things pretty hidden while still getting a fast, reliable GPS lock.

how long does it take to download a 5 minute video file from the unit to your phone and is that oval on the side of the mirror bracket a manual video lock button.

people if you ever have to down load video from a dash camera, never buy a Garmin, dial up is faster.

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement!
thanks.

It was supposedly four years ago, but . . .

OK, somewhat my fault, as I took a couple of interesting thing referred to me from serious sources, and then a couple more that mattered to referring friends.

But, still, yikes!

As of a day or so ago, I'm wrapping up one of the two remaining laggers. So if I can only get my old house fixed up and sold, I can build my not-a-garage at my new place, and start playing with classic cars!

Just got the repair quote back today. $9,700.
A 64.5-66 mustang convertible, v8, manual transmission, is an active search for me right now.

And I'll put my purist inclinations aside far enough to prefer one that's been retrofitted with a 5 speed (haven't seen a 6 speed) for the overdrive--not for the gas, but to reduce the total engine revs while touring. (I'll also consider one with a women's transmission at a price that makes doing the retrofit myself sensible). [and, well, just because, it will end up with a power window refit that uses the window crank as a control. And AC, because I live in the desert!]

There are actually two buttons on the side: a Power button and a Photo button. That oval one is the Photo button—it takes a snapshot (you'll hear a "Ka Ka" sound) and doesn't manually lock video files.

As for clip length, the maximum loop setting in the app is 3 minutes (1, 2, or 3 mins), so it won't create 5-minute files.

Download speed depends on which version you have:
  • STARVIS 2 version (5GHz Wi-Fi): Takes about a minute or less for a full 3-minute 4K clip.
  • Standard version (2.4GHz Wi-Fi): Takes around 1 to 2 minutes.
Still way faster than dial-up. :like:

For a 2026 Maverick XLT Lux, you'll need the Model B fitment.
https://mangoal.com/collections/all/2025-2026-ford-maverick-esr8148696

Just a heads-up: an updated Model B batch is currently in production. We’ve refined the housing fitment and made the lens vertically adjustable so you can tilt it up to cut down on the hood in the frame.

If you aren't in a hurry, waiting a few weeks for the updated version is definitely worth it.

No need to rush for the current 15% flash sale either—we’ll have a 15% forum code available once the new batch lands in a few weeks. :sunglasses:

I'm impressed by your reply which seems to demonstrate your desire to build a customer base, rather than just promoting immediate sales. I will be a customer when the updated versions are available!

Appreciate you saying that!
We’d much rather focus on building solid products and actually helping the community than just pushing quick sales.

We’re working on getting those updates dialed in right now and will definitely keep the forum posted once they’re ready to go.

Thanks for the support!

I'm also getting in line for the updated version :) I noticed the included power cable specified that parking mode is not supported. So for that feature I'd need a fuse box power cable, correct? Is there a specific part number I'd need for my 2025 Lariat?
