2023 Hybrids do not set the parking brake automatically. Tried it on a steep side street after another thread about it being automatic.

I also made a video of it not happening. My proof.
Same Hill. Watch the drive indicator as I shift to park. I then open the driver's door. NO automatic parking brake activated.

2025 change to the software?
Mine is early 2025 AWD Hybrid, & I don't recall EPB engaging automatically on a slope. I did have the Park Recall done. Advice from Ford, always engage the EPB first, especially prior to having the software recall completed. Procedure, after stopping, still ON, foot on brake pedal, shift into neutral, engage Parking Brake (yes you can hear it), release brake pedal & verify Parking Brake keeps truck from moving, then press brake pedal, shift to Park, turn switch off.

Ken,
Back in 2024, I posted about doing this same procedure that you posted. 👍
50 years ago, that's how I was taught to use a parking brake.

Don't know or speculate what others do, but for sure allowing truck to rest on parking brake first ensures its holding. The parking pawl becomes "backup". Also, I stand corrected. This afternoon I backed out of my garage, a down slope, put in Park with foot on brake, low & behold the Parking brake does engage-I could hear it and obser e dash light. I darn sure didn't realize inclination was factored in and engaged it automatically. Learn something every day. I've always done it the long way, as you and I, Parking brake first, Park gear second. My old school way will likely continue. Thanks Glen.

I have a 2023 you have a 2025.
I think the automatic parking brake started in 25.
