Can anyone comment on the reputation of rollups (either soft or hard) having questionable rain-proofing? The guys I've talked to seem to say roll-ups tend to leak water into the bed. Anyone have first-hand experience with this?
Unless they're perfectly aligned they all leak, the question is how much. The trifold hard tends to leak least because of the weight but that creates other problems like pooling which might get water into the hard panel core.

The dealer told us it was advised to purchase this item as people and groups steal tailgates. In the F150 theft of tailgates is a costly problem and as this is a new introduction parts for replacement could prove to be difficult to locate so an$40 lock could be cheap insurance.
Since you have a power tailgate lock, the only way for someone to steal the tailgate is if you have it down already, like when you're moving something. Otherwise they can't access the hinge. So that's up to you to decide if that niche moment where you're vulnerable is going to be common enough to warrant an extra security.

If that's what is available from the factory for the Maverick, that's likely the way I'm going.

I chose the Hard Roll-up, myself and hope it is. The one thing I would like to know is if one of the aluminum bars get bent or broken somehow, would we be able to replace just the one bar, or would we need to replace the whole cover?

Most tonneau vendors sell parts.

According to my dealer it's a factory-installed option. Dealer installed is things like floor mats.
Same here. I ordered the hard roll up cover. The only listed Dealer Installed Options (DIO) on the order are the tailgate lock and wheel lock kit. So I am assuming the tonneau cover will be factory installed.

I have just joined here and I ordered my truck earlier this week. I was having a very hard time deciding what to get but after reading all the opinions here I am going with the Hard roll up one. I prefer the hard top because on my Cadillac I have that but my wife will be driving it too so she will be need to be able to easily use this. I'll call today and add it to my order. Very excited about this truck.

Nope.... Trying to keep cost down, Did a Spray in liner tho For me the point of this truck is what you get for the price,
I ordered Hot Pepper Red Hybrid..W/Luxury pkg, Moonroof, Slider..and barely over $28000.00(incl. freight, taxes and Doc fees) Where else can you do that? Start adding a lot of stuff and your in the Ranger-Canyon area...No Thank You! I'm not paying over $30,000 for any truck/SUV,
I bought a Brand New Toyota Pickup for $4995..of course it was a 1978 :) So I'm just not use to these prices..

There is at least one picture out around here somewhere in one of the truck color threads that has the hard roll up - it was the same format, with the Ford logo on the underside. I really like it as well, and since I will have 84,000 ford points ($410 bucks...still have my points from my Ranger) I will likely pick this up as well!

I did XLT Hybrid w/Lux Package, Moonroof, Hard Roll Up Cover, Weather Floor Liners/Carpet Mats...all for $28,250. I feel a lot of bang for the buck in a Truck:)

have had a soft roll up and a duel fold on 2006 ford sport trac. The roll up just takes too long for quick access. I really liked the flip because it was so quick to flip open and flip close. I really dont need full access all the time and usually on something planned, like picking up an appliance. So for me, the flip works best and that is what I ordered with my truck. Would like to hear is anyone thinks the slider window is useful. Just looks so small and unavailable. I used my sliders mostly for sticking long stuff through. The old sport trac power slider is almost the full window - a miss for this truck I think

Where do you get the ford points from?
