Ajax Travel trailer towing update

Went to the East Coast and back in Canada with my 2026 Lariat hybrid with 4k Tow package. Trailer 3000lbs. All went very well and ran about 5000 kilometers with 99.9 percent engine and hybrid power only. I didn't push it and was passed by almost every truck on the road. Mileage varies as some days were windy. Going 95 KPH in a calm day was around 16liters per 100k. So I have to give the Mav a high rating. Will see later when I tackle some mountains.

I dare say the hybrid does not do quite as well on MPG when towing, (especially if tow/haul mode is needed) as the EcoBoost. I know I only got about 13MPG towing my 20' pontoon boat at around 52 MPH on rural rolling hills. It's the large frontal area and the fact that the ICE only shuts off when stopped. YMMV.

Probably fairly accurate if you do all highway but I do believe that though the ICE engine is on all the time there are times when it goes hybrid.

2750 dry.
~3200 lbs as outfitted.

Truck front axle 2300 lbs.
Truck rear axle 2600 lbs.
Trailer axle 2900 lbs.

I don't ever exceed 65 MPH.
Nominally set cruise to 62 MPH.
Slower on strong grades.

Nice. I looked at the Coleman Light which is an exact duplicate of my Geo Pro 17le in size, weight and interior. How many miles have you towed?

I do the same speed as you except when it's windy or raining.

Probably 2500 miles with the Colman Light.

Probably 12,000 miles with my other older trailer of similar size and weight.

What's the RPM at your normal speed ? Do you have tow mirrors ?

RPM is about half way at normal speed on flat road. My 2026 Lariat has camera on the mirrors and come on when I signal so I see a bit better. I also added an RV Camera at the back. I went through a scale to verify all weights are within spec.
