Getting my first new truck, vehicle, whatever you wanna call it. Just wanted to make sure everything looked good.
Ford Maverick 2026 XLT Order 20260524_133857

Now it should be 1750~ off give or take from pricing, along with a 750~ off on top of it, leaving it at about roughly $33,170.

Not sure if its a good deal or a "deal" by any means. I will get slammed by 6.25% tax then title and other fees.

Got told $36,500 OTD, wanted a lariat but I can't justify 40k+.

Looks like employee pricing plus tax and doc fees. Did they put any other misc fees in there too?

Not sure how long you hang on to vehicles, but in MA I would think that AWD would be handy, or worth more down the road.

Also, you can now get the power sliding rear window if that interests you.

Not that I'm aware of, could be just some padding since they gave me a rough estimate since it hasn't been delivered to location

RWD for the last 10 years from a hand down, although I wanna make sure I get a set of winter tires, I'm not driving a terrible amount and most, if not all the time I drive after plowing hours luckily

Tax brings your cost to $35,243.13. 36,500 minus this means there is 1376 dollars of add on fees. That total seems high to me. Doc Fee and title/registration should not be this much IMHO.

I usually use the online prices at Granger Ford to get an idea of what a dealer can sell the Mavericks for. Understand they are a volume dealer and perhaps have lower overhead. Their prices do give an indication of what one can be sold for. After looking for a vehicle similarly equipped, I have an idea of what the cost can be. I have even used their ad to show local dealers. Some just laugh, but some come down in price.............

I have relatives in Iowa and actually bought my 25 XLT, RR, Tow Package, Lux package, Blind Spot option and mats for $30,500 before tax added, their $180 doc fee and their $50 registration/title fee. I hit it lucky with quite a few incentives going on at the time.

Good Luck! I would find out what the $1376 in fees are.............

Check that $1376 like RR said, but that’s pretty close to what I paid for my 2025 XLT Lux Hybrid a year ago, at a not volume local dealer. I don’t think this is a bad price. But you do want to know what you are paying that $1376 for…

Taking a look at it, it looks like this was before the $750 rebate, so the price wasn't adjusted for it, at least it seems that way. $400 for dealer fee, $175 for registration, inspection and such they mentioned.

That seems like the reason why the OTD is higher.

I believe it's because I found out I had a $750 rebate after getting the OTD, that might be why, adding the dealer fee and registration, it seems like the $750 was the factor for that.

Congratulations and welcome to the club. I'm reasonably sure of two things. You'll love the truck, and five years from now you won't believe how 'cheap' it was.

As far as the 'hidden fees' go, the unpopular fact is that there is very little markup in cars these days. Factor in the salaries, commissions, and overhead and you'll see that most new vehicles sales barely break even. They rely on spiffs and factory incentives to keep salespeople showing up for work. If the dealer is lucky they make money on the financing and 'After Sale' items like warranties, service contracts, and protection packages. The industry standard is that the new cars keep the factory shingle out front and that shingle justifies the parts and service profit. These thin margins are why a lot of Mom and Pop shops give up and sell out to the big boys with the leverage to cut costs these days. I'm not saying that one should sign a sales agreement blindly. Just manage your expectations as to a 'fair' price.

tl;dr Enjoy the truck, read the fine print, but accept that nobody works for free.

Thank you, I appreciate it!

I'm sure I'll be happy, going through some buyers remorse because it'll be my first "large" purchase ever but it's something I've wanted since they were announced.

One thought as far as “buyers remorse” is that the Maverick holds its value and if you find it was not the right vehicle… you will not be financially penalized as much as other vehicle purchases.
However, it’s the “right” vehicle😉.

Yeah but look at the difference when the airplane came along or the microwave. Just because you are use to something doesn't mean you should continue. I understand everyone has different needs but unfortunately these change throughout ones lifespan.

Two things that I highly suggest consideration. Well three, conventional spare tire, AWD, 4K tow package.

The AWD and the 4K open up options, opportunities or offer adaptation if your life changes. Offer resale in incentive by opening it to a larger wants or needs AWD, 4K tow. At the same time making it safer to commute and the extra cooling in the 4K towing should be helpful for the vehicles longevity. Take a look at other brands vehicles comparing 4x4 and AWD vs FWD and RWD they usually recoup the extra cost on resale. It's kind of like borrowed money but offering an increased safety margin while owning it.

I have a nephew got a Maverick FWD and wanted to pull a trailer and noticed the lack of traction in snow. He ended up trading it in on a 4x4 Ranger used. Life changes I can't encourage you more than be prepared for those changes. Also do a search on this site, plenty of posts and threads where they want to know how to upgrade after the fact to increase towing. Also many trading them in for a vehicle that will tow, the amount needed.

Whatever you decide I wish you the best of luck with your Maverick and your new purchase. Also I think you will like the cloth seats in the XLT far better in the heat and cold then the lariats fake leather/vinyl.

I paid $32k for my 2023 XLT Tremor 3 years ago and it's still worth $30k or so. They hold their value remarkably well. If you can swing the AWD option, I'd recommend it. For the resale, if nothing else. Congrats. You're going to love it.

I wish I only had to pay 6.25% tax.
Where I live (Quebec) there is a 5% federal tax and a 9.5% provincial tax calculated on total of the truck price and federal tax.
It works out to 14.975%.
On a $50k truck the tax is very close to $7500.😡
