What crooked bastards! I would definitely report them to Ford. At least you can make it known to other's what a scummy dealership Wilmes Ford of Altus, Oklahoma is! I was concerned about a "market adjustment" when I receive my Maverick, so I sent email to Chapman Ford in Philadelphia and was told that a markup would not happen. Hope that is the case!

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. (You have to keep your sense of humor :))

This tactic should be reported to Ford. The orders required a DL image attached so dealers weren't hiding 'stock' orders in the 'custom ordered' class. Adding ADM post order placement is unconscionable, and should be reported to Ford. Ford actually went back and requested DL images to AVOID exactly what happened.
I would get them on the line and file a formal complaint. At least let them know how much you were disappointed after such a long wait. Who knows, they may pull some of that dealers allocations... would serve them right. Make some NOISE.
Looks like useful info... what's a DL and an ADM?

There is no reason to mark up an economy vehicle. This is just stupid. Who on this earth would pay even 4K over for a mass produced vehicle with a 4 banger in it. Now, I ordered it because it’s what I can afford, and have been waiting since July to get my ecoboost order scheduled, but I know that it’s a budget vehicle. When you have to add a package to have power drivers seat and call it luxury- hey it’s a budget vehicle. I get paying over sticker for a Ford F-150 raptor. Sure, but not this. I would go on every review site and social media and give bad reviews. I would even threaten to go to the local papers and news. Why not?!?!

Okay, so without reading back over this entire thread, I think we have you all beat !!!
Somebody mentioned a $4k mark up ? Ha ! That dealership must not have had any balls !
When my GF ordered her XLT, we were quoted $23 (+ $3k in tax, license, and CA reg) So they called us yesterday to say they had the truck and to come on down and pick it up. Then walked out with a price of $38K !!! Are you ef’ng kidding me ?!?! A $15K markup !
That began a very long series of back and forths …. 6 freaking hours worth ! At which point, it was still about $2K higher than MSRP. So I finally told them, we were going to go home and think about it. Not surprisingly, they sure didn’t want us to do that ! They finally came out and quite surprisingly, sold it to us for MSRP ! Considering how high they started, I was honestly surprised they came all the way down…

BTW, during our haggling, I actually pulled up this thread on my phone, and showed the title of it to my GF…. Yes, it was my GF’s truck, and her $$$, but I was not about to let her get suckered.

I guess I can’t blame them for trying, but geez ! Who would just say, okay, here’s $12K more…..

Oh btw, we test drove it, and loved it 🙂👍

I wonder how many windows with pellet gun hole in them add up to $8,000.

I know, I know, I know....... I should have got something signed when I ordered my Mav back in July. I was told in my meeting during ordering that
I was locking in price and would avoid the almost guaranteed rise in value as demand goes up. Waited close to 6 months eagerly checking status of my order dang near everyday. Truck get delivered this morning 12-15-21. Dealership calls this morning to tell me there would be a $4,500 dealer mark up. Being that I am already out of that state due to a military PCS I would already have to buy a $500 plane ticket as well as almost 12 hour drive back to my new home I have decided to back out. So now a beautiful Ford Mav sitting in Altus, Oklahoma at a very crappy dealership of Wilmes Ford. At a awesome $4,500 mark up, which they may change to almost $8,000 as they are telling me they gave me a half off discount on the mark up!!!!!!! How kind of them for thinking of me in doing that!!!! Nope go screw yourself Wilmes Ford of Altus, Oklahoma.

Added in the email I received with explanation.

One final note..... As my wife and I found out about our move to a new state I was in full contact with the dealership. Even looked at price of shipping it to my new home and was quoted at $1,800 for the trip from Altus, Oklahoma to Great Falls, MT. I was in constant contact with the dealer. He had every opportunity to be open and honest that there could be a mark up upon arrival. He did not mention this once in our exchanges. He waited till delivery had happened to let me know. That is why I believe this was his plan all along. To have me walk and sell it to the next guy at a profit. At the end of the day I guess as the buyer all I can do is be mad as they sell my custom order to another inidividual.

I got mine on printed paper. I’d follow up with Ford because it seems they did this just to have more Mavericks to sell at a higher price point (used you). This is what gives dealerships and cheap entry vehicles a bad name.

I know this is Ford but I have a challenger in which I agreed to pay 1200 for a repair. When it came back the problem was still there (after waiting for 2 months). The dealership then said for another $2400 they could fix the problem again. I called Dodge SRT division and they had the car fixed within two days.

Calling corporate will get the ball moving is the point or at least in my experience with Dodge.(awesome company)
