Couldn't agree more with why I chose a 26 hybrid with AWD and 4K. Had a Ram 1500 which I loved but I wasn't using it's capability often enough to justify the cost of gas every month when it was mainly used to go from work and back. Also, realized one day that I was the only one in the vehicle 95% of the time.

Found a Maverick that fit the bill and cut my monthly gas cost in half easily, if not a little more.
Same. I've had full-size trucks and started "right-sizing" several years ago. Landed on a midsize Nissan Frontier and now I'm just waiting for a preowned Maverick hybrid AWD 4k tow to hit the market.

I've had several trucks over the years with a standard sized bed, and I hardly ever needed all that room. With the Mav's flex bed, even large items can be accommodated.
Some may view it as a compromise, but I don't.
My F-250s had the 8' bed. I always got the long bed for the bigger fuel tank. I could count on one hand the number of times that having an 8' bed came in handy in a year. And for that little usage, I'd rather just rent a U-haul trailer and be able to tow more weight than the F-250 could carry in its bed anyway.

Now that I think of it, a Maverick hybrid probably gets better cruising range than my F-250 with the 40-something-gallon fuel tank did. So I could drive further in the Maverick and be able to park in a regular residential garage.

Wanted a US made Hybrid AWD that could cover/secure hauled items in the bed, good traction in winter, provide 4 doors, still get great mileage
Might have to keep looking then cuz the Maverick is made in Mexico.

Point being? The chips are in Tiawan, lord knows where: steel comes from, tires, brake parts, individual engine parts, plastics, electronics, ..... not sure anything electronically or even mechanically manufactured are 100% USA made. Main idea here..... its sold primarily in the USA and by a USA based company needing USA repeat customers and reputation.

It's a bit pedantic, but I guess it depends on what you want to define as "USA Made". As per the VIN, the Maverick is made in Mexico.

Perhaps my circumstances are unique, perhaps not.
When looking for a new vehicle, I needed:
  • A truck with a bed - I carry lots of stuff that I don't want to put in a trailer
  • Good MPGs - The more the better
  • AWD - Where I live folks have AWD / 4WD or they may have to walk home
  • Ability to tow a decent sized water trailer - No one here has municipal tap water
  • An affordable price
The 25 Mav hybrid fits the bill in all categories. Actually, it may be about the only vehicle that does.

To drive to the "local" post office is ~ a 12 mile round trip.
Today I drove there and back. Reset Trip 1 when I got in, snapped the pic before I got out.
Maverick Post Office Round Trip Post.webp

Nearly 55 mpg's on a round trip with the capabilities to do everything this truck can do is nothing short of amazing. My wife's Honda Accord is lucky to get 30mpgs on the same trip.

The MY 25 was the first year that combined the ability to get a hybrid with AWD and the 4K tow capability.
I think I ran past you on my way to the same post office.....

That is an average speed of 15.5mph.....that is wildly slow and really not accurate of the MPG that you get in normal driving conditions. It's a neat anecdote to show when the screen says you're pulling that MPG.

But....but....it is not USA made - which is what you stated you wanted.

I don't think it is pedantic at all - he said USA made - which the Maverick is not.

OK, so then buy a Santa Cruz assembled in Alabama, USA. Correct, we are only supporting an American company. Which purchase is more supportive? It’s getting “blurry”!

If he wanted to support an "American company" he should have said that.

Made in America means something different.

I settled with “Made in The Americas”. “Made in USA” wasn’t available in my price range. Maybe increased production or a different Mav variant could employ some home-grown talent!?

Based on the pile of crap MAP put together for my 22 Bronco I wouldn’t want an American made Maverick.

..... now if it just holds up as a Ford product!
Ouch

Get an ESP from Granger if you haven't gotten one yet. Then let Ford worry about your truck holding up!

Nope. Not at all. You are confusing the overall elapsed time with time actually being driven.
My Post Office trip was a ROUND trip.

On the way there and back, the main route is being repaved, so it's a one lane for two way travel, that's less than a mile, but the primary impact is the wait for a pilot vehicle coming and going.

After getting to the post office, a short wait in line for a package, and BS with the guys who are my friends there doesn't affect my average speed.
Otherwise the speed limit is 35, so I doubt you could pass me walking.

If you go to the grocery store, do you use the time while shopping to calculate your average trip speed? If so, that's also wrong.

US company, designed in the US, US owned factory, workers trained by US personnel, working with US made robots and QA by US standards.
The impact of the location's primary difference is the labor cost, which is why it was produced there.

Actually, the more appropriate term might be assembled in Mexico...
