Will we ever see a Maverick hybrid in Tremor form?

Just thinking a hybrid Tremor would be the best of both worlds - great fuel economy and the ability to do some mild off-roading.

But since the Maverick has more of a uni-body design, and the weight of the hybrid battery, a Tremor version won't work.
So maybe I answered my own question.
But it's nice to dream.

If you look at how this unibody Hybrid does in this review, a Hybrid Tremor shouldn't do any worse. The big question is, will Hybrid buyers be willing to pay $40K+? Ford certainly isn't going to offer it at less than an EB version.

The primary hurdle is the mechanical setup. The Tremor's "Advanced 4WD" system uses a twin-clutch rear drive unit that can perform torque vectoring and a full locker simulation. Currently, the Maverick Hybrid uses an eAWD system (likely a traditional power-split setup with a physical driveshaft for the rear, though similar to the Escape's system), which hasn't been integrated with the Tremor’s specific off-road hardware.

To make a Hybrid Tremor, Ford would need to either adapt the twin-clutch rear end to the hybrid's CVT/electric motor output or develop a "Tremor-lite" package that focuses on the lift and tires without the advanced rear differential.

I would think a hybrid FX4 would be more likely.

Thank you for your insight. My knowledge of vehicle mechanics is rather limited.

I guess I could make my own Tremor-lite. Buy the hybrid with the 4k tow package and add
a little larger A/T tire. And increase the lift a bit. Should do well for camping trips and when
exploring unpaved roads.

It did pretty good. Perhaps a Maverick hybrid would do just as well. Btw, I have a 2025 Rav4 hybrid
AWD. I'd be too scared to take it on this off-road course. :)

Well, if not Tremor - maybe Ford could dust off the Timberline name for a series of hybridized Tremor-esque type of softroader...

A hybrid probably isn't well suited to the low speed, high torque demands of an of road application...? At the very least, the current hybrid drivetrain in the Maverick wouldn't be able to provide the same driving experience most buyers are looking for in the Tremor (and Lobo, for that matter). You never know though, with the Maverick's popularity, it'll probably be in production for many more years and we'll see multiple new trim variants, so I suppose it's possible.

Hmmm... good point.
