I feel like this message board is headed in the wrong direction. Your awesome truck gets zero likes or replies in 2 hours. Meanwhile the "hood prop is too short" thread is a beehive of activity with 3 pages of replies lol. Nice truck.

You mean the "person is too tall" thread? :D

@LemonHead is that still the AFE Rebel exhaust? Did you run that exhaust before the downpipe? How did it sound then?

Yes still aFe rebel. Same type of tone but turn it down a few notches. The CVF downpipe and removal of secondary cat really opened it up

A+ on looks!!

The Big Mouth intakes look very nice but:
1) Did you have to permanently remove all the adjustable radiator slats? Will the truck take longer to heat up in cold weather?

2) Have you noticed any over heating in the Summer with so much of the radiator covered up the the Big Mouths?

Again, A+ on looks. One of the ā€œprettierā€ Mavericks on the forum I think

So ALMOST all slats need to be removed. I opted to remove all instead of leaving two on each bottom side.

It does take a little longer to warm up in bellow freezing temps but nothing too crazy.

No overheating noted. Don’t think I’ve seen temps over 185 since install. Granted it’s only been a month and the hottest day so far has been 85. But I know guys in hot states with them and no issues

Good input!

I’m thinking about cutting the trim below the OEM mouth (per the instructions) to let more air flow into the OEM mouth.

BTW, how did you hold the hood up while the prop rod was removed?

I agree. I see so many options for awesome performance upgrades with almost zero interactions. But the old geezers (I’m not young myself though lol) that make fun front lips on my thread get hard ons for the most ridiculous things. Like no, I don’t care about the hundredth tailgate strut thread I’ve seen on here.

to the op: what temps are you seeing post intercooler upgrade? Sorry if I missed it!

I’m not the OP, but I’m curious also because I plan to get the Ford Performance Garage intercooler for my Lobo.

AI tells me to expect a 20 to 25 degree Fahrenheit reduction in incoming air temperature to throttle body versus the OEM intercooler…nice:)

ā€œ
The Ford Performance Garage (via Ford Performance Parts) offers an upgraded intercooler for the 2022-2025 Ford Maverick 2.0L EcoBoost models under part number **M-6K775-MAVU** (developed in partnership with Mishimoto). This is a direct bolt-on replacement that fits in the stock location with no modifications required.

The Maverick Lobo uses the same 2.0L EcoBoost engine as other non-hybrid, non-Tremor Mavericks (and the intercooler is compatible with Lobo models, as it's specified for 2022-2025 2.0L non-hybrid/non-Tremor variants, with no exclusions noted for Lobo-specific differences like bumper/grille).

Regarding your specific question on how much it lowers **intake throttle temperature** (likely referring to post-intercooler charge air temperature at the throttle body/intake manifold, often called IAT or intake air temp in logs):

Official specs from Ford Performance and resellers (e.g., the product page and related sources) highlight these key cooling improvements compared to stock:
- **Outlet temperature rise**: Reduced to **11°F** (or degrees, assuming Fahrenheit in automotive context) versus **35°F** stock. This means the intercooler allows only an 11-degree rise in air temperature from the inlet to outlet under test conditions, compared to a 35-degree rise with the factory intercooler.
- This translates to an effective **24°F reduction** in outlet temperature rise (35°F stock minus 11°F upgraded), as noted on some retailer pages (e.g., Steeda lists "Reduced outlet temperature rise of 24 degrees").
- Efficiency improves from **60%** stock to **73%**.
- Pressure drop reduces from **5 kPa** stock to **3 kPa**.
- Additional claims in related Mishimoto/Ford Performance descriptions include a **39.6% increase in temperature reduction** capability (tied to a 58.8% larger core volume) and **20.1% lower pressure drop**.

These figures represent the improvement in how much the intercooler cools the compressed charge air from the turbo (reducing heat added during compression and heat soak). In real-world terms, this keeps post-intercooler intake air temperatures significantly lower—especially during sustained load, hot weather, repeated pulls, towing, or performance driving—preventing heat soak where stock IATs can climb 30+°F or more.

Note that exact degree drop at the throttle body varies based on conditions (ambient temp, boost level, driving style, etc.), and Ford doesn't publish a single "X degrees lower IAT" number for all scenarios. The quoted improvements (e.g., 24°F less rise) are the most direct official/reported metrics for charge air cooling performance.

Other aftermarket intercoolers (e.g., CVF) claim larger drops like 28-30°F cooler in testing, but for the official Ford Performance unit, expect benefits in the range of **20-25°F lower charge air temps** under demanding conditions compared to stock, based on the outlet rise spec.

If you're tuned or pushing higher boost, the cooler denser air helps maintain power and reduce knock risk. For precise real-world data on a Lobo, you might check Maverick owner forums (e.g., MaverickTruckClub) for logs after install.ā€
