Ford was really reaching with the pinto but at least still it made sense being a horse.

Back in the 80's I got a Mack truck bulldog with eyes that lit up from JC Whitney and bolted it to the hood of the snot green Mercury Comet I bought for $200. It was so stupid looking that I got a lot of great comments on it. It was fun until it disappeared one dark and stormy night outside a bar leaving a large hole in the hood.

The inspiration for the hood piece in the picture you quoted is obviously nothing to do with that. Yes? I mean they even painted it red.

Well, that's a worse case scenario but the OP said he didn't want perforations.

Perhaps epoxy, but then it's gonna leave a mark when forcibly removed by a bar patron, such as the disappearing Mack truck dog incident @Backin15 noted. With enough motivation, even something bolted on might be persuaded..

I'm thinking that a hood decal might be a safer alternative.
There were quite a few for Maverick's on Etsy.

Back in the day a friend of mines dad, an OTR
Trucker had a Bulldog on the hood of his
MAC truck.
He rigged it to a separate windshield washer bottle system.
A little yellow food coloring in the tank. The nozzle was under the bulldogs belly,
That bull dog could piss 10 feet easily.
