Anyone besides me thinks the Thermal R&D system is a little loud for in town driving? What are you thoughts? Would the single turn down seem quieter than the side exit?

Do you currently have the exhaust or just getting that opinion from videos? It seems like they updated it very recently and added a second muffler/resonator near the tail pipe.

I have it installed and it does have a resonator on the tail section. I made my purchase based on hours of YouTube videos and comparing others. IMO it’s just a little loud for daily city driving. Highway would be fine. I may put the factory exhaust back on because I can’t return it because I installed it and now it’s considered used.

Which tip did you go with? The downturn would probably be more quiet but I can't see it being a drastic difference. I actually have one in my cart now that I almost ordered. So hard deciding based on videos. If you were closer I would consider talking yours. I'm in New York though.

An issue with turn-downs is that they can kick up a lot of dust, etc. (at least with larger engines) if that's a concern...

Good luck....

.
I talked to Thermal this morning and suggested maybe switching to a turn down thinking maybe the sound would exit to the rear making it quieter than the side exit and they disagreed

Personally, I was disappointed with how quiet the Thermal is. I even emailed and asked if they have, or could make a muffler delete section.

I went with the dual black coated one.

My issue is the noise I hear in the cabin

Understandable. I wonder if they changed muffler designs at some point? I hear very little from the exhaust inside or outside. Inside I can hear a slight growl when I'm on the gas, but putting around town, nothing.

I have the single polished side exit.

Honestly I agree with @Mudduck its a little too quiet for my liking. I wasn’t expecting straight pipe annoying loud but I honestly can’t hear the exhaust from inside the cabin. A little with the windows down but wind noise quickly cancels that out. Cold remote start sounds great from inside my house but other than that I couldn’t really tell a big difference from stock. Not sure if the added resonator helped or hindered but it doesn’t sound like the exhaust in their install video to me. Glad I got it under $500 because the new price is ridiculous and I would’ve been more upset with the results.

I have the thermal with the turndown stock look, i love it, although do wish it was slightly louder but imo it's ideal for DD. It's quiet when you want, and louder when you're on it. It does drone at 1800ish and 3800ish when on or off throttle, but it's not terrible and you can easily manipulate a gear change one way or the other to mitigate if you don't like it.

I can't believe price went from $500 on sale regularly($629 reg price), to now 800 regular price. Totally understand prices going up, but dang. Glad i struck when i did.

Do you have the original design with the single resonator chamber, or the newer one with two? I have the original with the turndown and I get a pretty good drone at part throttle between 1650 and 1950 rpm. It's not terrible, but my wife doesn't like it lol. No issues otherwise.

I have the muffler with the resonator on the tailpipe section with dual tip side exit. A little drone right after taking off at at about the rpm that you mentioned but quickly disappears
