110 power inverter failed - how to find and replace?

I have a 2022 Maverick. As is would happen soon after my factory warranty expired my 110 outlets stopped working. I checked the fuse it was fine. I changed it anyway. Spoke to the dealership and they said it would be $180 just to evaluate the issue. As I don't use them and the USB ports work, I said no.

Question - Where is the inverter located? Is is hard to get to? and Is this a DIY replacement? Any thoughts folks?

if I remember correctly it’s behind the rear seat on driver’s side

The inverter is under the center console. Not hard to get to. Have you tried pulling any codes?

i have not. The external indicator light is out. that was the first sign. Only steps I took was to ask Ford when I got regular service done on the Maverick. Both 110 outlets out so assume the inverter has gone bad. The bit I have read on the net is that these inverters are not really reliable and replacing with a higher quality one is the best course of actions. Doing a deeper dive now and figured folks on these forums would know best.

Here is a picture provided by "Toddman45" of the inverter underneath the console.
The inverter is located in the same place in both EcoBoost and hybrid.

Ed, if you decide to replace your inverter or upgrade to a new one
Here is a good post 👇 that outlines the steps to remove your console.
This should give you a pretty good start, if you decide to tackle replacing the inverter yourself.
To go along with the text I have added pictures of the screws you'll be taking out in order to remove your console if you so choose

I don’t recall what video I found when I did it, I recall searching took a back back then.
It isn’t too bad, have done multiple times on my ‘22 and then my ‘25.
The thing is it is 3 different socket sizes.

- 2 bolts in the front, under the USB ports; these are fairly long
- 2 bolts on either side, near the front seat rails; when you put these back in, becareful to not strip them
- 2 bolts on either side at the rear (easier to get at if you move the seats forward); again becareful when putting them back in
- 1 bolt on the black panel on the driver side front (under the dash), then pop it off; there is a small tab at the rear, nothing major, just pull the front first.
- the black panel on the front passenger side just pops off, again pull from the front
- then there is a big plug under the passenger side black panel you need to disconnect; there is a lever you swing
- then just lift the console from the rear and pull away from the the front to get it out

Just browsing looks like you can buy them used eBay.. Direct direct replacement.

Imo, the inverters are quite poor in terms of reliability and capability. They're modified sine wave inverters and lots of electronics don't like that.

Anyway, it looks like used ones are $200-300 on eBay if you want to change yours out.

There are many much, much better inverters for that price, but they're not gonna be plug and play with the Maverick.

Not a 100% sure if I will ever replace but this all helps. Love the Maverick not the inverter. :cool:

This is not going to be the best answer, but mine had a loose connection under the left side of the bed that affected the interior and bed plug. Sorry I dont know where the specific connection was as the dealer fixed it and gave it back. I would look here first.

Yeah, that is not a sine wave. But I think all inverters make a crappy sine wave.

Inverters are pretty common and cheap now. I wouldn’t spend too much on one.
