I had a nail too close to the sidewall to fix so even though I only had 10k on the OEM Pirelli Scorpion tires, I bought a new set of the Nokian Encompass tires (I never liked the Scorpion tires anyway and Discount Tire gave a $30 credit for each tire).

I believe these tires are exclusive to Discount Tire. They are a copy of the MIchelin Crossmax.

I haven't used them in snow or on dirt but I just drove round trip from Boise to Reno (900 miles) and they were very quiet and smooth-riding. Discount put 39 lbs psi in the tires so I think that helped reduce rolling resistance. I maybe got 1 mpg better than before but haven't done a long road trip with the old Pirellis, except with a UHaul trailer.

They are rated Mud/Snow and have the 3-Peak designation on them but I don't believe they are "all terrain" rated.

I paid $941 out the door with the added tire damage replacement warranty. I would recommend them for people who don't need an off-road specific tire.

Good looking tire. I would imagine they perform well too. Nokian "Tyres" has a good name.

Congrats! I have the same tires on my Maverick Hybrid. Great tires in rain snow and dry. Ride awesome!

With that tread pattern they appear to be unidirectional tires. Have a similar pattern on my current snowtires that are Nexen. If Discount tire is similar to my local tire chain (Town Fair Tire) here in New England, they will sell the other 3 as used. Have bought several used tires from them. Had to purchased 4 while waiting 13 months for my Mav to arrive. Neither the tires that were on it when bought nor the snow's would pass the MA inspection. lol.

Nokian "Tyres" has a good name.
Over all mediocre tires is what I would call them. I’ve found all the Nokian tires I’ve owned have had a sharp drop off In performance. Very good for the first 15-20k miles, 1-3mm of tread depth, and then it’s sharply downhill from there. I’ve seen it with multiple generations of some of their tires. It must be the compounds they use.

Some tires run into harder compound after the first few .32nds. I have run several sets of Nikons winter tires and they’ve always been great.

I, as well as many people I know, have not had the same experience.

And I know many who have had the same experience as I have with Nokian tires. We are likely not using the same tires, nor living in the same environment.
