AGM doesn't fix parasitic draw...
We all know that but AGM’s as a whole have a much larger useable draw down time.
Something like 100-120 minutes where a flooded is more like 70-90 minutes. Or there about.

All this stuff is all over the internet if you spend the time looking it up.

I am on my 4th battery....2 were AGM....1st lasted 10 months, then failed....i am conducting a 2 week charging experiment and I will report later under the topic.... Is it better to charge the 12v hybrid battery with all doors locked.... some members report that there is a lot less relay clicking with the doors locked
I put my key fob in a faraday bag. Actually 2 bags. 1 key fob bag inside a smart phone bag. Sounds crazy but my fob was still getting the signal out when in only the key fob bag. I had an extra smart phone bag so I stuck the small bag with my fob into the bigger bag and that stop the signal and the relay clicking without locking the doors. And my original battery charges right up. My Maverick battery is 16 months old. And I have a Pulsetech Power Pulse BMS hooked up to my 12 V battery which stops all sulfation. $40 at amazon. They work. My Transit is 11 years old, original AGM batteries. My original Mustang FLA battery lasted 13 years. Buy one and stop putting up with sulfation.

Glad I didn't buy a Hybrid!!
Eh. The cost of the AGM (that completely fixed it for me) was paid for in a few months of savings in petrol. 25Kish on the clock and average 40.8 MPGs. Even the battery tender I bought as insurance has been more than paid for by now.

Remember that usually only people with issues post about them. The rest of us either never had a problem or fixed it with an AGM.

Personally glad I bought a hybrid and would likely have not even bought a Maverick if no hybrid option.

Hey FalcoFirst, do you connect your Noco 5Genius under the hood, or under back seat directly to battery? Thanks

I’m not the person you asked, but I connect my Noco genius 5 under the hood. But if you are using the desulfate cycle, per the Noco instructions, you should disconnect the battery from the vehicle during the desulfate cycle.

AGM’s charge lower than flooded. I think it’s 13.5 VDC peak.

I am sure 14.8 VDC charge voltage would be bad for an AGM.
That’s why modern digital chargers have a separate charge profile specifically for AGM’s.
My BMS has never taken it above 12.4-12.5 not even when new.

BUT Fords charging profile is too low. It only charges my AGM to 80% at best.
This is why they often die before they reach two years. sulfation.

Plenty of articles on the net.

A 14.8 VDC charge makes a flooded battery boil/bubble a bit. AGM’s must not bubble while charging.
I’d never charge an AGM above 4 amps.
Personally, my AGM will never see anything above 2 amps

That’s why I bought the Noco Genius 1

IMHO the Maverick BMS is set to a too low
Peak voltage for an AGM. It should be I think 13.4.

When a modern charger detects a flooded battery it ramps up to your 14.8 volt charge rate and can push harder, more amps.
Perhaps you install an adjustable voltage limiter/stabilizer just before your positive 12v post? Also check your battery brand for it's recommend charge profile. I think I have seen as high as 13.85 (have not reviewed though). Was your agm fully charged and settled when you ran the 8 hour battery learn?

Didn’t ask me but definitely under the hood. Even when you jump.

The only reason you go to the battery direct IMO is to replace it. Which is, by the way, a pain in the backside due to the tight space.

That’s the repair mode? Make sense but did not know that.

To OP, if you are charging or tending - obviously you can just leave everything plugged in. NOCOs are particularly great because they are smart enough to know when to stop - so no risk of leaving it plugged in “too long”.

That is for sure. I just had an AGM installed and in two weeks battery dead again. Car went on a 200km drive and I parked it for one day. Next day it is dead. Back to the dealership for the third time. Now finally they have agreed to check for a parasitic draw. Software update and AGM did not fix problem. Pulling fuse 11/12 did not solve it either. Any other ideas out there???
Turn off all connectivity. ALL of it. WiFi, FordPass, and whatever else nonsense you can find in the infotainment settings. Even updates. You’ll get them at the dealer at the next recall. I guess leave Bluetooth if you use it - I do not (USB CarPlay for me) so I even shut that down.

Uninstall the application. While you won’t get notifications (maybe a bonus - it was for me), they don’t seem to prevent anything anyway. You’ll know there’s a problem the same as you do now - dead battery.

Worth a try?

I did this and didn’t pull the fuse - that with an AGM has me “fixed”. That said, I do tend the battery whenever I think of it

Hi all,

On a side note. I have finally bought my own ODDLINK EX connector (wired) and downloaded the Forscan software to my laptop. Let me first state that I know this isn't the place to discuss this, but it is related to the topic

Forscan is not, I repeat, not easy to use. Just getting the darn license to use it took several hours and attempts! Most suggestions on the internet kept telling me to copy and paste the license. Well guess what? Once you download every thing, there is NO OPTION TO CUT AND PASTE! I finally was able to locate someone in Finland who was having the same issue and he said to just leave the website, and reconnect and it should show up. Wow!! Next, you can forget thinking that you can learn how to use forscan via google, A.I. or even on the forscan website. Waaaaaayyyyy too much info about how to play with forscan and NOT enough postings on how to do one specific change.

In fact, this one guy who has too many videos on forscan only talks about what you are looking at once its hooked up! I know what the hell I am looking at! I was building my own computers before Windows 98 came out! Just show me step by step how to change the charging rate from 80% to 95%? And the shakey out of focus videos are worthless! Better off just cut and pasting the screens showing each step.

So, finally, after spending HOURS of scouring the internet and even here in our forum, I was able to cut and paste various suggestions on how to accomplish my goal of simply upping the charge rate. When I am done, I will do my best to just post how to do this one thing. It is the most relevent change for all of us. I could care less about changing how my times my horn honks when locking my doors. I want my battery charged properly no matter how little I drive the truck.

Sorry about the rant, but I feel you all can feel my pain..............

Sorry for all the problems you had with installing forscan, it’s ok to rant, better here than with a gun?

And I have some bad news, there really is not and good setting that you can change to charge your battery properly in a short time.
You can change the battery chemistry, SOC, and battery size.
Right now it should be set to AMG.
Your planned SOC is 80-85%
and you can choose what size battery you have.
You could change your SOC but it’s doubtful that your battery will get that high and change to floating charge.

Thanks for the reply! I have an Duralast Platinum AGM BCI Group Size 47 680 CCA H5 battery that I installed on May 11th 2024. My goal was to change the SOC to 95%. I still get the occasional "Sleep messages" and I wanted to see if this eliminates it. If not, at least the charge rate will be higher and my battery will last longer.
