I was contacted by Ford to do a virtual meeting with a "subject matter expert" for any questions or feature explanations.
Doing my homework up front, I had a list of topics.
Few to none could be answered, like does "slippery mode" get better mileage? "Eco mode is designed for that" was the reply.

Unfortunately, her depth of knowledge was limited to what is stated in the owner's manual.

About the only new information I learned was that to her knowledge, Ford doesn't monitor the MTC forum for content.

That led me to finding that the forum member "Ford Motor Company" is no longer active as of the end of last year.
It looks like direct access to Ford is provided by this Ford website if you want to chat with a robot or get contact numbers.

Otherwise, it looks like a better use of time in exploring the trucklett is with a current searchable pdf of the manual, or the MaverickTruckClub..

Well, unfortunately they don't have Tim Bartz, available 1 on 1, to answer every obscure Maverick question not found in the 558 pages of the Owners Manual (MY2024).

Four years of serious discussion have probably made many of the stalwarts here on MTC the closest thing that Ford has to Maverick subject matter experts.

True, and this forum is Mav focused, while to Ford, it's one of many models...

IMO -The Beta testing is over for the Maverick - besides get better answers from owners here it seems - recalls definitely cooled and you can bet while not participating someone at Ford is reading things here :)

Cheers

That's possible. It is unfortunate if they don't because they could get better access to feedback.

I'm thinking that the dealers want to be a primary point of contact, and by keeping them out of the loop, some feathers got ruffled. Who knows, but "official" representation is no longer here.

I am always amazed when seeing all the car salespeople standing around waiting for the next customer (victim) to come onto the lot. Most appear to be doing nothing. Those on computers when I sneak by, are on nothing car related. If they really want to improve their sales, they could be reading model forums, and read manuals, and even know the price and build prices and features of each model.

I had my oil changed the other day. I went into the showroom and was just looking at a 25 XLT when a salesman came over. The man knew a great deal more about a Maverick after talking with me for ten minutes. Just basics. Like the engine in the 25 EB is not the same as previous years. Different models have different standard tires, etc. What I did know came from this Forum, the owner's manual and the price and build site for model comparisons.

Shape up, salespeople!!

Car salespeople are salespeople, not car people. If they were car people, they would be mechanics or engineers or something other than salespeople.

A "good" salesperson should be very familiar with the product he or she is selling. Certainly, should have at least as much knowledge about the product as most of the customers. Now if a customer "knows" what he wants, just sell it to him.............;)

Seems like knowing what is standard on a Lariat versus an XLT should not be that difficult.
I asked the salesman what was in the XLT Lux package with cost of $1800 and he had little of an idea. Basics not requiring a degree in mechanical engineering!

I know!
It is like you 're watching sharks circling with blood in the water...
I've noticed that a lot more prevalent at Toyota dealers...

That was my experience as well. This forum has been helpful as well as the other resources you mentioned.
Fortunately, my salesman's lack of Maverick knowledge wasn't an issue because I knew exactly what I wanted and why. To the salesman's credit, he found me the vehicle I specified, although it wasn't on the lot, and the dealership was honest through the entire exercise.

The price quoted didn't change by more than a buck, and there was none of the often times encountered back room shenanigans for high cost/low value "must have" additions I've had to repeatedly say no to in the past.

I stand by my statement. Finding a good salesperson is at least as difficult as finding a good mechanic.

I remember when I saw the first Ford Maverick ever on the dealership lot of Friendly Ford in Las Vegas.
It was a Lariat in Cactus Gray I remember the salesman insisting that the Active-X interior was leather.
They also had a $3,000 adjusted profit sticker on the window.

I stand by my statement. Finding a good salesperson is at least as difficult as finding a good mechanic.
They level of difficulty in finding either may be similar, but the rapidity with which you ascertain their qualifications, or lack of same is decidedly different, as is their impact on your life.

With a bad salesman, you know pretty well know right away and can easily walk away with little impact. e.g. Gee, I like the car, but you are an idiot, so I'm going to buy the truck somewhere that isn't here...
After the sale, the salesman is relatively unimportant. You might say hi if you are on good terms, but the salesperson is of little importance after the sale. They are a one and done.

With a tech, you may not know until much later, and depending on how and what their lack of abilities or care are, when they screw up, you may be paying in loss of time and significant hassle for an extended period.

The other item of poor comparison is you choose the salesperson.. You can say I'd rather work with someone else. At many service departments, you don't have a choice or often even know or meet the tech working on your vehicle.

Thanks for your opinion - you just saved me from wasting the time I have left learning nothing when I could be cleaning my firearms and other useful stuff!

I've found that Windows Copilot app is far superior to anything my dealership can provide when it comes to the entertainment system, vehicle operation, etc. It's not always right the first time, but eventually gets it right - which is more than I can say for the showroom dwellers.

Yep...it AMAZES me how much more I know about my boat, what's going on with the new model of my boat, and general boat stuff just from reading a few forums now and then than my boat salesman does. On the flipside, my daughter and husband were shopping for a used Raptor. Young salesman at the dealer I bought my Mav from was a walking encyclopedia of Raptor and truck knowledge. Great conversation with a salesman who did a little homework.
