Honestly, I don’t want to rain on your parade but the chances the Ford tech checked your diff fluids are slim to none. They probably (maybe) looked for obvious leaks, saw none and called it good. The most they could have done is pulled the fill plug and stuck a finger in to feel for fluid. No way to check fluid condition or clutch wear. Ford says those fluids are good for a “lifetime” and that is good enough.
I highly recommend you replace the RDU, PTU and trans fluid before 30k. If you can do it yourself, it can be done for less than $200. The dealership will probably charge you $1000. I was quoted $300 for just the RDU.
Less than $200? Doing it yourself is less than $50.

What the heck is up with all of you that want to distrust everybody so much.... Wow...
Its really easy to distrust dealers to be fair...

Im of the opinion though that if you have put eyes on it, you should just make the extra effort to change it anyway lol. Otherwise why even look? Visual inspection doesn't go very far with oils unless they're way overdue or something is coming apart lol

I paid roughly $65 for both fluids when I did it myself. Plus $12 for a fluid pump, which ill use hereafter. If you can change your oil, you can do this yourself.

Multiple experiences with automotive dealer service departments . . .
More often than not, if the service manager is talking, there's some mistruthin' going on.

Did my RDU & PTU last weekend, I've had the Mav for a year, but have clocked less than 6k miles on it, the fluid refreshes were pretty easy overall, both seemed to be just under proper fill.

The RDU fill plug situation was a bit troubling, the magnet was missing. It's my understanding that the RDU fill and drain plugs are the same 6C2Z4N282AA part.

Whether the magnet gone missing happened prior to plug installation or the magnet got munched by the RDU gears is unknown. The drained oil was dark, I ran it through a fine steel screen and there was no obvious magnet residue.

They arent the same. The top does not have a magnet. Don't worry. If they are the same thread pitch, you can have a magnet installed top and bottom no worries.

Yeah, it's taken me awhile to respond, too much life goin' on.
Anyway, thanks for the response.
If you peruse the top plug in my photo, there's a chunk of something in the lower right quadrant that was firm to a dental tool poke and didn't appear to be magnetic, I assumed it was the remnants of whatever adhesive is used to glue the magnets into those plugs.
I'm not too worried about it since screening the used fluid didn't reveal any magnetic bits . . . of course any magnetic debris could be stuck to steel parts inside the RDU.
