Just did my 10,000 mile service with Full synthetic, tire rotation, all fluids checked etc.
80 bucks :’P
I had them check fluid levels in Both the PTU and RDU
Both properly filled and both checked no charge.
All tires at 7/32 tread depth.

No recalls,
No updates, this 2024 needs nothing.
Runs, drives and behaves flawlessly.

I’ll keep doing my Italian tune ups.

When do plan to do the PTU? I’m just over 20k and have a dealer apt. for 20k maintenance. I hae requested them to change it since my local shop won’t touch it (PTU/ RDU) and dealer is a bit of a pain to reach. Less worried about RDU - seems like it hasn’t been as under filled, etc. from people reporting these issues.

Who is "them"? If it's a dealer, very unlikely they actually checked your PTU/RDU fluid. And you are at 7/32's at only 10k miles?? What kind of tires?

Are you saying the dealership lied?

They checked it, I know the service manager personally, Trust is earned not given.
Tires,
Michelin primacy, what came on the truck.

He knows what I know, you can’t judge an oils condition or any lube other than tranny fluid by looking at it.
Tranny fluid should be some level of pink and should not smell burnt.

Had the RDU fail at 37,000 miles in my 2021 Bronco Sport.
Replaced under warranty.
This Maverick is under warranty to 100,000 miles. So not worried about any failures.

But I’ll still service the truck like I planed to keep it past the 100k mark. I’ll trade in before 100,000 miles.

Sure, but the service manager is not the one working on your truck 😉 He may have told the tech to check it....

I hope you are right, but I'd still bet you a new Maverick the tech did nothing.

Just another reason I got the extended warranty. I don’t like wasting my time worrying about such things.

At 50k like I’ve always done.
is there any difference between front/ rear differential and ptu/rdu - is it the same idea; i get the impression that the ptu isn’t as robust as a normal 4 wheel drive diff

Front is the transfer case or ptu in Ford lingo. Rear is rear differential or rdu. I don’t know if the ptu is less robust than other vehicles.

I don’t go where the jeeps and theTaco’s play.
I’m fully aware these mavericks are not off road vehicles. Even the Tremor lacks the necessary ground clearance.

Worst I get on is steep loose gravel fire roads.
And again with my extended warranty I’m not concerned.

You think because you trust the Service Manager it means the mechanics actually checked the plugs? 😂 that is hilarious.

Honestly, I don’t want to rain on your parade but the chances the Ford tech checked your diff fluids are slim to none. They probably (maybe) looked for obvious leaks, saw none and called it good. The most they could have done is pulled the fill plug and stuck a finger in to feel for fluid. No way to check fluid condition or clutch wear. Ford says those fluids are good for a “lifetime” and that is good enough.
I highly recommend you replace the RDU, PTU and trans fluid before 30k. If you can do it yourself, it can be done for less than $200. The dealership will probably charge you $1000. I was quoted $300 for just the RDU.
