She drives it sometimes, though it's primarily mine. She has driven far more than I and part of buying the Mav, for me, was letting her enjoy being a passenger more often.

She also refused to drive my old Frontier cause she couldn't shift the column gearing. Don't know her reasons for not driving the Maverick. I guess some day I will. Anybody else have this happen to them? What did you do? Jump for joy or goad her into trying?

she's overthinking what a hybrid is - she's an adult , it's a simple explanation, ending with 'it runs like any other vehicle...so what are you concerned about' would likely get you the explanation you're looking for.

She is also blown away that some Ford products (not just mavericks ) still use a key to start !

Always regretted selling the fastback mustang so we could get a car with rear doors for the kids. But I needed pickup for hauling stuff. I made $650/mo and wife made $190/mo. (I opened my checking account Sept 1959 which shows 9/59 on my checks and still does. Check number has rolled over three or five times don't really remember. Mainly use cards now though). Inadvertently proposed on 2nd date when I said "I like you, but I don't think I would marry someone who smoked". BINGO Window went down and cig flew out the window!!! It was several years before she stopped occasionally reaching for her purse, etc.... But she did quit cold turkey!!!! So what else could I do!

Anyway, the Maverick is my wife's. She drives it, at least for four or five miles. Longer trips she has me chauffeur!
