What is the experience with towing a camper with front wheel drive hybrid. Not AWD only FWD. what about actual weight pulling?

It can do anything the AWD can do.....

.... on dry pavement.

On dirt / gravel I get some wheel slip with something big and ~3000 lbs +/- in tow. Have not towed much in wet and never in snow and I wouldn't do it anyway.

Hope that helps.

If you do not have the 4k tow package and have an accident ana are towing over 2k pounds most likely your insurance will deny the claim.

My carrier does not mind.
Never heard of it ever happening.
Possible. But very unlikely.

I always say, add a brake controller and know how to use it.

Brake controller is the only LEGAL requirement to tow 4,000 pounds.
The rest is engine performance related and up to you.

You should not tow more than the sticker says "as factory equipped".

But contrary to popular belief, a VW bug can tow 4,000 pounds; if it has a trailer brake controller and other proper safety gear, such as chains and break-away cord (required in most but maybe not all states).

Those who say "adding a brake controller does not make your 2k truck a 4k truck" are correct, from a performance standpoint.

But it does make it legal to tow more, at your own risk of damaging your engine / drivetrain.

If you know what you're doing, many things are possible. Not saying wise or safe, just possible.

My favorite - not 4000 lb but still impressive. And his owners manual says his trailer tow rating is - "we do not recommend using this vehicle for trailer towing".
I am pulling a 3200lb hi-lo popup with my 2019 niro HEV, and I will be doing the SAE J2807 tow rating tests with it. | Kia Niro Forum

It was interesting to read a different site with a similar but different make of vehicle. ( Kia Niro Hybrid

With no "tow mode" and a 6-speed the owner said he had to manually shift to 4th while towing on the highway to get enough RPM's to tow and recharge the hybrid battery at the same time.

Also stated 23 MPG towing a small camper at 55 mph. Pretty similar to Mavericks there too.

This is similar to what tow mode does for you in the Maverick.
