Airbag cover is splitting

I have a ‘23 lariat with 23k miles. I am about to go to the dealer for a second time for this issue. The steering wheel airbag cover is splitting along the break line. This is the same exact spot the previous one split at 10k miles. Anyone having a similar issue?

That’s not a split though. That is surface abrasion. And it’s happening along that line because it sticks up higher than the surrounding area. I don’t have that problem because my steering wheel literally never gets touched there, other than the guys at the car wash doing an interior wipe down. That definitely looks like something has been drug across that surface numerous times to wear down the surface of the vinyl that much.

The image you uploaded shows discoloration, but it does not show separation of the upper and lower half of the material, which would be splitting. Feel free to submit higher quality images to validate your complaint.

it is not a discoloration. The upper half is starting to separate and pull back from the lower half. AGAIN, this is the second time this has happened. The first time the cover eventually split and was replaced under warranty. I was simply posting to see if others are having a similar problem.

I just hit 10k and mine is doing the same thing ,I just noticed it today. Coincidentally just had oil change done at the dealership yesterday.

I'd definitely ask them to take a look at the airbag. This could be something dangerous.

Absolutely, going to get it replaced under warranty, not something I want to mess around with. Definitely looks like it's separating.

I'm going to get it replaced ASAP, I am hoping this doesn't become a regular issue.

So, repair was done ,very quickly I might add, the truck was at the dealer less than 48 hrs. Looks as good as new. I will keep an eye on it, hopefully it doesn't become a reoccurring issue.

I have a '22 EB AWD and noticed the same thing on the airbag cover with mine, at first I thought is a scratch but looks more like a hairline crack in the plastic; I am the only driving it and barely using the horn. What's the deal here, can you buy that cover (part #?!) and replace it?

The cover is sold as an assembly containing the airbag.

The cover is replaceable. The airbag is a separate piece. Mine was covered under warranty.
