Yesterday my 24 Hybrid Maverick lost its damn mind. On the way to work the check engine light came on. "Detected an air leak into the engine that should not be present". Okay that's weird but whatever; mpg is as good as ever. have an appointment to get that looked at Sep 3. While Ford has it they're going to do all the outstanding recalls and service bulletins (including Sync).
This is the disturbing part. After having dinner with the family last night I got in the truck, turned it on, and immediately hit by ear splitting static from the speakers. Imagine static with the volume turned up to maximum. I tried resetting the head unit (pwr + FF) no change. I turned off the car and opened the door and it kept going. Only after getting out of the truck, closing the door and waiting 10 seconds did it stop. Tried starting up the vehicle again and the same thing happened. Rinse and repeat. This time I waited a few minutes after the noise turned off to try it again and everything was fine. Radio was back to its last station at a volume of 6. It was like my Mav was possessed for a few minutes.
Seems coincidental that the check engine and static happened on the same day. Yet, in modern vehicles you can't be sure they aren't causative.
Anyone ever have this static thing before? If so how did you fix it up? I've since added ear plugs to the center console in case it happens again and I can drive it straight to the dealer.
Update: Built in July 2023 purchased in early Aug 2023.
